It would seem that Sun still thinks he's dead because she and Hurley visited Jin's grave after she had their baby. Of course, he could be alive and she doesn't know that yet, or it could be a plot to protect the island since the rest of the world only believes that 6 survived. Maybe she knows he's alive but she has to pretend he's dead until they can make it back to the island for their purposes.
The episode where Sun and Hurley visited the grave made me feel like he wasn't dead. The date on the grave was the date the plane went down. Regardless of if they are covering something up or if he is dead, they would have to use that date so that no one else would know that other people survived for so long.
I believe Jin is still alive whether or not Sun knows it yet. I think the boat explosion would be too obvious for the writers. Because we don't know if he jumped off or not, there's no way to tell. Plus, how do we know that the explosion wasn't an illusion? Crazier things than that have happened on that island. What if someone wanted the people in the plane to think that the boat exploded, but it really didn't? On Lost, anything can happen.

Wow, I'd forgotten how exciting Lost is for me. There's so much ground to cover in these last two seasons. Can't believe I have to wait four more months to see new Lost...

the drama isn't in whether Jin is really dead or not. there is more story potential in the fact that Sun THINKS he's dead. We've already seen that Sawyer was able to swim back to the island safely. So it's no stretch to beleive that Jin made it back.

If Jack can convince Sun to go back to the island with news that Jin is still alive, that would be good motivation. plus she would have to live with all of the things she did to her father under the mistaken impression that he was partly responsible for her husband's "death".

Honestly, I think Claire's storyline is too huge to just write her off for a season. Since the first season we've wondered about her child, and still have no answers. Or tidbits of answers to come. And we found they are brother and sister and nada. She shows up with dead dad and nada. That sucks.

I'm sure he's alive, but this story doesn't confirm it. Although "rewarded" doesn't sound like confirmation of a body.


He'll be in flashbacks before they return to the island, and will be tearfully reunited with Sun when the '6' return. He was last seen on the deck of the ship, near the edge, a little while before the boat blew up. If he jumped into the water, he could easily end up washing back onto shore like he did before (assuming the teleport extended in a distance around the island, which would make sense).

Boy, Jin just doesn't have the best luck with boats.

We didn't see him die, we saw the boat blow up.

Everyone just thinks he is dead, maybe he transported himself back to the island.

He was coming from Hawaii because he had to appear in court for his DWI charge. And we all know what happens when Lost actors get DWI charges...

time in lost is not linear. he died when we saw him die, and he will be dead in all scenes that take place after that, but that doesn't mean we won't see him in scenes from before the explosion.

This show is so hard to keep up with (for a casual fan like me) over the Summer. I barely remember what happened in the finale!
