What to Watch Wednesday, Sept. 24

by Kim Potts, posted Sep 24th 2008 5:00AM
'Gary Unmarried'
(8:30PM, CBS) series premiere
We love us some Jay Mohr, even if he does seem a bit out of place as a typical sitcom dad.

He's the titular Gary, unmarried after divorcing Allison (Paula Marshall). Breaking the chains of love hasn't loosened controlling Allison's ways, though, especially when he's in charge of their kids, geeky teen Tom and politically-minded 11-year-old (hey, we said it's a typical sitcom) Louise.

Allison's controlling ways aren't Gary's biggest problem, though; she announces her engagement to her ex marriage counselor (Ed Begley Jr.), which means not only is Allison officially moving on, but now Gary has no excuse not to do the same. Let the single-father dating games begin.

'Knight Rider'
(8PM, NBC) series premiere
Hey, Mike! KITT, your souped-up car, is totally boss, but there's something you should know about him, er, it: Val Kilmer's hiding inside! Or at least, his voice is.

'Lipstick Jungle'
(10PM, NBC) 2nd season premiere
Viewers will be excited that Wendy's mom is in town, since Mama is being played by TV legend Mary Tyler Moore. Wendy, on the other hand, thinks Mama is a little too close for comfort, especially now that Wendy's decided to spend more time at home.

'Criminal Minds'
(9PM, CBS) 4th season premiere
While the team is trying to respond to the terrorist bombing from last season's finale, the SUV they're riding in explodes, injuring two of the BAU squad members.

'David Blaine: Dive of Death'
(9PM, ABC)
Sure, hanging upside down for three days and nights, suspended from a wire via electromagnetic boots five stories above Central Park sounds dangerous to you and us. But wonder how adrenaline junkie Blaine would fare with a day of mundane tasks like paying the cable bill and waiting in line at the DMV?

'The New Adventures of Old Christine'
(8PM, CBS) 4th season premiere
Christine considers a green card marriage to save a friend from being deported. Said friend: Barb.

'CSI: NY'
(10PM, CBS) 5th season premiere
Like Alexander, Mac is having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day: He's taken hostage in a bank robbery, then wakes up in a submerged car with no idea how he got there.
