Heroes: One of Us, One of Them

Mama Petrelli is going to be trouble this season, isn't she? I wonder how much of the flak the show is taking now is because they've had to restructure their overall plan due to the strike last year. We already know they'd intended to unleash the virus and have the aftermath of that drive the second half of the season. Who knows how that development would have flowed into what we're seeing now.

I'd hate to think that the lower ratings opening of last week's premiere will spell the impending doom of this show. If people are willing to ride along with the insanity of Prison Break for four seasons now, surely they can handle the comic book logic and over-the-top plotlines of this series for a little while. Sure, it's silly. Sure some of it really doesn't make much sense, but what do you expect with extensive time travel stories and super powers. Marvel and DC Comics have been struggling to keep the logic and timeliness of their universes in order for decades.

I may be the only one in the country, but I've never had as much of a problem with the Nikki/Jessica storyline as most people seem to. Sure, multiple personality disorder isn't exactly an ability but now that we've seen Tracy having ice powers while Jessica had super strength it really opens up the potential in the character, no matter who she is. Or how many of them there are.

I didn't see Tracy seeing Nikki's body coming (I guess almost no time has passed since the finale). Nor did I see the return of Micah as I thought I'd read that he was written out of the show. It would be a shame if he did leave, though, because I really like the kid (and where's Monica?). But I now think that Tracy/Nikki/Jessica are all clones, or some after-effect of Zimmerman's ability. There could be tons of Ali Larter's running around out there.

Heroic Morsels
  • Brea Grant as super-speedster Daphne is a hot new addition to the cast. And helped set up a cool re-introduction for the Haitian. I've always liked the idea of the Haitian's power leeching ability. HRG used him to great affect, and I even liked that he just always seems to be "on."
  • It's good to see a future painter back on the show, and the beautiful artwork of Tim Sale showcased again. But if he meant literally that he'd been painting since he was a boy then there are multiple painters out there who all paint like Sale? Talk about plagiarism!
  • With Isaac it was Claire at the center of all the happenings. Now, with the guy in Africa, it's Parkman at the center of his paintings. What is Parkman's major significance?
  • Gabriel Patrelli? Nosir, I don't like it. I don't like it at all. Is she the whore of her generation and we'll find out she's the mother or grandmother of all of them? Except for Nikki/Barbara/Jessica/Tracy, et al.
  • Hey, brainstorm. Let's give the guy with the crooked mouth that looks really ridiculous when he yells screaming powers! That's like casting Marty Feldman with the power to shoot laser beams out of his eyes.
  • I'm not sure if Sylar's sudden spark of human emotions and feelings and concerns is just a ruse to further his agenda, as it's always been in the past, or if the writers are going to actually humanize him a bit after two seasons but I don't think I like it either.
  • When HRG finds Sylar's weakness, he's going to kill them? How about standing next to the Haitian? That's a pretty big weakness.
I'm sorry, but I don't buy whatever is going on with Claire's mom. Here's a woman who had absolutely no interest in Claire or getting to know her even after her daughter reach out to her. And then, out of the clear blue she's ready to move in with Claire's adoptive family and protect them while Noah is away? Sure, that makes sense.

Missing this episode for no reason at all: I guess Mohinder and Maya were banging through the entire episode. And is he or isn't he real phantom Linderman was probably watching. Old pervert.

I liked seeing Zachary Quinto doing something other than menacing. And I think maybe HRG was a bit amused/impressed with Sylar, despite himself.

Is this show a day-time soap opera about super heroes? Seriously... The dead guy comes back to life. Hey and there's another dead guy back from the dead. Don't stop now, there's a twin of a dead character too! "I'm your mother"?! The bad guy works with the good guys now.

The acute stupidity of EVERY character? These characters never grow. Never learn. Never develop. They're stagnant. Just like the show. Last week's opening episode was outrageously awful. Well Monday's episode went a step further.

So I'm just going to throw this out there...

I was thinking that the most dangerous person for Sylar to um,.. "consume" I guess, would be the Hatian. Think of it,.. Sylar would be unstoppable. He could 'deactivate' anyones power who could stop him.

Sorry,.. it was just a thought rattling around in my empty head.

Like you said Jason, why can't HRG just shoot Sylar or cut off his head when the Haitian is around?

Also, how is it that "The Company" can keep Hiro [or for that matter, any of the other people with abilities] imprisoned? They haven't shown the Haitian standing around the entire time, and apparently he gets sent out on missions, so does that mean the prisoners just sit there when he's not there?

When they were holding Peter they were making him take some meds to negate his powers, when Sylar was strapped to the table he had the tube up his nose (possibly giving him the meds), maybe they have come up with a drug from the Haitian's blood that negates the powers for certain amount of time.

So that's it for Jesse? I am so disappointed. Francis Capra and Kristen Bell have such amazing chemistry, and they totally wasted it. All we saw of FC was mirror shots. I was really excited about his character and the whole thing was just disappointing.

Okay, I know that it's best to just empty your mind and go with it with a show so terribly written as this, but... come on, Noah. You've got an inch of glass separating you between someone about to be murdered and you don't think enough to, you know, kick it or something? You have a freaking gun in your hand, man! God, every character is just so stupid, I can't help but let it get on my nerves.

And since when are Sylar and Claire completely immortal? I thought the whole point of the episode with Victoria Pratt last season was that, you know, the healers can't survive a head wound. But, apparently Noah still feels the need to point his gun at Sylar's chest, despite being "the Company's best agent".

Don't even get me started on Hiro and Ando.

A waste of two villains and a Mohinder-level lack of common sense by every character forces me to consider this a completely retarded episode.

My wife gave up on the show last week. I abandoned it this week. The characters are just so shallow and stupid that I end up feeling dumber for watching it.

Does anyone know who briefly played the character of Bridget on Heroes (Before Sylar presumably ate her)?

I heard she was in online eps. before this season premiere, but I cannot find her name anywhere. Can anyone help me please?

"That seems to be a problem with most of the reviewers on TV Squad, they don't particularly care for the show they're reviewing."

I'm also starting to feel that way too. Last Week reviewer was bit humorous but even through the humor I still felt the reviewer just doesn't care for the show. Its' seems like they just want others to come aboard their hate train.

I don't believe some on here have seen/read the online Comic books because they do explain some thing's that are on the show. Now with Zimmerman entering the picture I think this explains Nikki/Jessica story a bit. Hopefully Monica will make a reappearance to sort of bring a meaningful ending to that story. I'm glad to see Micah back hopefully he can help the professor with the formula since I believe he is much smarter than Suresh.

I like Daphne (Brea Grant) because I feel like I know her character already, namely by way of Chiana (Gigi Edgley) from Farscape. Basically change the skin colour and the superpowers, and they are basically the same person. I'm already thinking of Daphne in my mind as 'Pip'
