What to Watch Thursday, Oct. 2

'Vice Presidential Debate'

After weeks of character assassinations and wild accusations being bandied about amongst the candidates, we voters get our first shot at hearing Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her Democratic opponent Joe Biden go head-to-head. PBS political pundit Gwen Ifill hosts the debate, which has already caused the Barack Obama and John McCain camps stress.

Both presidential contenders are reportedly worried that their inexperienced, "gaffe-prone" veep contenders "could commit a momentum-changing misstep in their debate." Sounds like must-see-TV to us.

Mac and Charlie pretend to be dead in order to avoid actually being dead when Mac's recently-paroled pop comes looking for them with vengeance on his mind.

'My Name Is Earl'

It's the Joy in the plastic bubble. When a toe infection requires Joy to be quarantined in said bubble, Earl assumes her duties in life -- poor Crabman -- and quickly realizes just how her, ahem, spirited personality has left Dodge and Earl Jr. sans social skills.

'Ugly Betty'
(8PM, ABC)
Sleeping with the enemy? No. But Betty may be working with the enemy, as Wilhelmina tries to get Ms. Suarez to become her assistant at Mode.

'Supernatural'
(9PM, The CW)
Like Marty McFly, Dean gets to go back in time and interact with his 'rents when they first met and fell in love.
