I agree with the above. Smallville should have finished a long time ago. It is best to end a series at its peak not when it is despised and criticised!! I thought the series started to have a lot of loose ends from season 4 and found this really frustrating as I was a real fan of Smallville right from the tsart.

I used to be addicted to every season and watched them over and over again. Now, I find that if I missed so many episodes, it didn't seem to make a difference to even catching on to what happened to the main characters as hardly anyone seems to move on.

I completely dislike the Jimmy character, I don't like how through out the whole series, Chloe, with all her intelligence and beauty that she could not find a man that matches her credentials like Lana and Whitney used to be in season 1.

Lois's, Kara's and all those ugly alien creatures were completely over rated and stood out in a not very nice way. I didn't feel that any of them really fitted in at all. With their cocky sense of humour yet continuously sad puppy eyed Clark, just did not match.

Saying all that, I did like the storyline of Green Arrow and Lois. Bringing in the Justice team was a great uplift for the series.
Also, the way Lex's father was killed off was also frustrating as his end never clarified and finalised what and when and how he really felt about Clark, the "Traveller" that Lionel claims to have always known about!! So does this mean that all those early seasons when he investigated the Kuwatchi caves, that he knew all along about the Traveller? why did he seem so nasty then later on became so kind then nasty then...oh I give up.
Anyhow, I am going to miss Lex a lot but totally understand why he left the series. Anyone with a half a brian would have left the season by now. It is about time that Clark should grow up and be a man rather than some teenage or early 20s kid.

I started watching this show because my husband is a huge fan. It's entertaining, but I thought it should have ended last season. How long can they keep Clark from learning to fly? And now Lex is gone...where do we go from here? I agree with the previous poster who said it should have ended with Lois looking across and seeing Clark at the next desk.

I had this feeling two years ago but don't have it now. I liked the first three episodes of Smallville. Very much so. I like the fact that Lex and Lana are gone - and Jimmy. The show is much fresher right now and what prevents this one from going 15 years like ER? What's the rush to get it off the air? We still haven't seen the real Superman and that might be the nail in the coffin then when you remember what "Lois & Clark" was *yuck*. So maybe he should never ever put on the tights and they should just keep going. I like the connection between Green Arrow and the new head of Luthorcorp. More than I ever enjoyed the connection Lex/Clark. All the Lana drama is gone and we can now finally see how Clark gets together with Lois. Or how they start to do so. If you take what they did the first seven years of Smallville with Clark and Lana that means there are at least another five years of story to go before Clark can finally date-rape Lois. I mean have wonderful night with her, impregnate her, and then make her forget all about it. You know - the Superman Returns plotline :-)

So instead of making a show about young Bruce traveling the world training to be batman they're using Dick, the circus performer? Does this make sense to anyone?

This the only show that I watch religiously. I still haven't figured out why people think it needs to end; there's a bunch of other shows out there that should end as well but no one else seems to think so. Law & Order and One Tree Hill have been on longer than Smallville has. I do think if they cancel it, they should replace it with a Justice League type show or one based on The Green Arrow, since we already have an idea who he is.

i am a fan of the show but iits time to go. it had 8 years run. thats one less than the greatest show ever to grace television (seinfeld) thats a pretty good accomplishment. now go home. people cant keep getting knocked out while clark does superman then waking up when hes gone.

the only way they can get this show to be interesting again is if they stop with the pre-24 episode format. before 24 every show had one case per episode that was solved. very rare was it a 2 part story. if they want smallville to survive they need to change to the 24 formart where a string of episodes solves one storyline.

Most overrated treatment of a superhero since the Burton Batmen, IMO. Oh wow, they bring in perfectly normal guys and they're supposed to be iconic comic characters in name only (Brainiac, Mxy, DOOMSDAY). Nolan Batman does a much better job at being realistic and fairly true to the characters!

For God's sake, finish the story and GO HOME. Tom Welling is 31 already; how long are you going to have him play a 20-something?

The only reason I'm still watching this season is in hope that we'll see Clark move closer to Superman. If a season 9 confirmation comes, I'll ditch this show once and for all since another season will mean that it'll continue to go nowhere fast.

The show has somehow managed to improve even with the loss of Lex Luthor. The loss of Lana must of evened it out as well as the fact that Tess is a good replacement for Lex. However I doubt they are going to get Tom Welling to do another season this is most likely the last season. Also to the Robin prequel I say HELL NO!
