starter wife'The Starter Wife'
(9PM, USA) series premiere
Will's been replaced by Rodney as her gay best friend and her boozy pal Joan has some Karen-like moments, but Debra Messing's definitely not in 'Will & Grace' land anymore with this new dramedy, which continues from last year's USA miniseries.

When we catch up with Messing's Molly Kagan, whose life was turned upside down when her Hollywood exec hubby Kenny announced he wanted a divorce, she's using entries from her personal diary for a writing workshop assignment, in hopes of getting her own post-divorce Hollywood career on track.

And if the spark between her and her hot writing instructor happens to turn into her own love sequel, so be it ...

'Degrassi: The Next Generation'
(8PM, The N) 8th season premiere
Emma, Liberty and Manny are off for a randy frosh year at Smithdale U., there's a girl on the boys' football team at Degrassi and the tables are turned on trouble-instigating bad boy Peter when he becomes the subject of a widely-circulated rumor. 'Degrassi' season eight ... it's still going there.

'Supernanny'

(9PM, ABC)
Here's a new one for Jo: A family's oldest child needs help more than her parents do. The 18-year-old has spent much of her childhood trying to help her deaf parents keep her three younger siblings in line, and the teen is stressed to the max by her adult responsibilities.

'Star Stories: Simon Cowell'
(9:20PM, BBCA)
Everybody's favorite 'American Idol' judge gets the business in this installment of the celeb bio spoof series, in which the re-enactment Simon explains that his success is all due to his 'genius and honesty.' Not to mention his modesty.

'What Not to Wear'
(9PM, TLC)
Sure, Clinton and Stacy have convinced many a fashion victim to part with shapeless sweaters, baggy sweatpants and other drab duds. But did those style-challenged sorts continue to heed the duo's advice once the cameras were gone? Tonight's 'Then and Now' episode revisits them to find out that very thing.

'Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?'
(8PM, Fox)
'Jeopardy!' champ Ken Jennings, tonight's contestant, just might be.

What's on this weekend: 'Rock of Love Girls: Charm School,' the 'Really Awards' and more
