If you can get an Emmy for judging reality shows, we want one for blogging

Simon CowellWe've already seen the emergence of an Emmy category for Best Reality Show Host (and the awesome job those nominees did as hosts of the Emmy Awards - cough cough). Now they're going to give an award to the judges.

That's right, the Emmys have created a new category for Best Reality Show Judge. So all of you TV viewers who watch reality shows and say to yourself, "damn, that judge really deserves an Emmy award!," this category is for you.

I'd love to know how they're going to judge this category. Will they go by the personality of the judge? Will they do some mathematical formula to determine which judge was most accurate when it came to praising the winners on their show? Will it be an award for how much we're fascinated by what the judge does? If that's the case I think we can give the Emmy to Paula Abdul right now.

I wonder if people like Donald Trump and Gordon Ramsay will be eligible for this category. Sure, I guess we could call them the "hosts" of their shows but they also serve as judges. Hmmmmm...

Who should get the reality show judge award?
No contest: Simon Cowell59 (42.1%)
Paula Abdul19 (13.6%)
Randy Jackson1 (0.7%)
Sharon Osbourne3 (2.1%)
Donald Trump2 (1.4%)
Piers Morgan7 (5.0%)
David Hasselhoff7 (5.0%)
Gordon Ramsay13 (9.3%)
Nigel Lythgoe14 (10.0%)
Carrie Ann Inaba 1 (0.7%)
Other (say in comments)14 (10.0%)

Way to go, Bob. You put yourself into the same category as Reality TV. Finally you noticed it too. TV Squad has become a cheaply done excuse of a blog, with no inherent value.

You now the "slow clapper" on "Not another Teen Movie"?

*slow clap*

But you guys basically don't blog any moore as far as I can tell. Or even worse, you blog about a show for part of a season and then just all of a suddden stop (i.e. Project Runway). And you want an Emmy? Yeah, right. Haaaaa!

I like the "Best Judge" category much more than "Best Host." Really, is there anyone out there who watches American Idol for Ryan Seacrest and not for Simon Cowell? (Unfortunately, there probably is.)

The suggestion that there should be some sort of criteria for picking the winner, though, is laughable. Is there criteria for the other categories? If so, how do you explain Jean Smart winning an Emmy this year?

Oooh controversial. Two years ago/one year ago I'd have jumped up and said: 'TV Squad deserves the Emmy' but, erm, you've stopped reviewing anything... and while blogs are all well and good, they're kinda random and scattergun
