And now for some porn...courtesy of FOX and House -- VIDEO

by Richard Keller, posted Oct 19th 2008 10:51AM

How does FOX promote a medical drama like House? With porn, of course.Dear Hugh Laurie,

Hugh (can I call you Hugh?), do you know how the next episode of House is being promoted by FOX? The show that you executive produce and spend hours and days getting just right? Care to give a guess? Okay, I'll let you know. . .porn.

Not like the porn you get online, or porn you find on Cinemax. We're talking about over-the-air, PG-rated network porn. To be more specific, FOX is featuring a promo of the show (seen after the jump) with the first 43 seconds of a girl-on-girl scene starring Thirteen and her 'one-night-stand' that eventually gets sick and becomes the week's Mystery Patient (coming out soon as a board game by Milton-Bradley). I understand that network executives may be catering to the base feelings of the average male viewer, but I'm sure there is an equal, if not stronger, female base that may be a bit disturbed about this preview.

Take a look yourself, Hugh, and let us know if this is the way your show should be promoted. Oh, and the rest of you can tell us as well.

Woo hoo, yes! More girl on girl! Yuppiieee! I am horn-eeey and I like it!

I don't actually watch house but even I know that this promo or the reactions to it do not in any way represent what House is actually about.

This is why I don't care for Olivia Wilde.

Didn't she play this character on the OC?

i know she played a BISEXUAL character. but not so much THIS one. she was less of a dying doctor and more of a misunderstood 17yr old from the wrong side of the tracks who fell for the wrong girl. but i can TOTALLY see the similarity. what with both characters having the same sexual orientation and all.

Why is this "porn"? Because it's women? I've seen far worse scenes on tv quite often with hetero couples.

I do think that this sort of thing is gratuitous and unnecessary, especially in a trailer. And that would be for M/F also.

It's also funny how in America these days the reaction of two girls making out: half the commenters were "wow! when is this on?" I'd love to see the reaction is it was two men.

As a heterosexual female viewer of House, I don't think it's much to get offended over.

Anyone who watches the show will know that it won't be an episode of softcore girl on girl, so how they choose to promote it doesn't really matter. I don't see it as any more or less offensive than them promoting a hookup between male and female characters. Sex sells in advertising, such is the nature of the beast.

I didn't even notice that tag at first. But I second that request. There should be more than 1 post under the girlongirl tag by now. And when you do find more excuses to use it, please don't forget the videos.

It is a sad day that not one of these comments thus far condemns this video. Yet one more link in the chain that will hang us all and one more example of objectification for a young girl. God help us.

13 is a doctor... so she would be what, in her mid to late 20s? I hardly think she still qualifies as a 'girl'. The rest of us are appreciating that adult lesbian sexuality can now be exploited just like adult heterosexual sexuality.
