Lindsay Lohan's Ugly Betty stint cut short

Lindsay UglyCall it stunt casting gone bad...or a good idea on paper that failed to produce anything interesting on film. I'm speaking, of course, of La Diva Lohan's mini-arc on Ugly Betty as Kimmie, Betty's high school nemesis. Lindsay Lohan's guest stint on Ugly Betty has come to an end. If you read some of the stories across the media today, things got very ugly indeed on the New York set. Whether it's true or not that LiLo was a walking disaster area, that she feuded with America Ferrara and irritated the crew, is all conjecture and rumor. The bottom line is that it's over.

E's Kristin Dos Santos confirmed today that all of Lindsay's remaining appearances -- four upcoming episodes, including tonight's -- will be shown. However, that's all there is and there will be no more.

Frankly, I'm not sorry. Starting with the season finale last year when Lindsay first appeared in one of Betty's flashbacks, the character has been N.B.D. (no big deal). This year, Kimmie popped up as Betty's father's boss in a hamburger joint. The height of comedy turned out to be a food fight with Betty. Hardly the kind of thing to turn in for Emmy consideration.

Sad to say, Ugly Betty has struggled thus far this season. It doesn't need more stunt casting or superstar guest spots. The strength of the show is in the characters. Last week they wrapped up a few threads, sending Daniel Jr. and Alex off, and resolving -- somewhat -- Betty and Gio's relationship, so it's likely that things will be improving from here on out. That's what I'm counting on.

Too true, I had considered skipping all the Lohan episodes, but I watched last nights. Giving Betty a nemesis she can directly compete against isn't the worst Idea, but it need'nt be Lohan, filling that role.

It's very obvious that Lindsay has no real interest in this show or in the role she was hired to play. She was in it for p.r. and the money. It's also very obvious that this girl cannot "act." She has consistently played "herself" in all of her films, except when she was 9, in The Parent Trap. Lack of acting skills, drug addiction, dui's, rehabs, etc. have all taken their toll on this girl's so-called "career." Lindsay, I think it's time to retire.
