What to Watch Friday, Oct. 24

by Kim Potts, posted Oct 24th 2008 5:00AM
a night for vets'A Night for Vets: An MTV Concert for the BRAVE'
(8PM, MTV)
The topic of U.S. troops in Iraq is a polarizing one, but we can all agree the brave men and women serving there deserve a welcoming return home.

Unfortunately, the soldiers often return to face issues with unemployment, health care and homelessness, and MTV hopes to raise awareness of their plight via performances by 50 Cent, Ludacris, Kanye West, Kid Rock and Taylor Swift.

The network is also co-sponsoring the Bill of Rights for American Veterans (BRAVE), a petition for legislative changes that will alleviate the problems vets often face after serving their country. So we'll forgive MTV for not playing music videos anymore when their primetime hours are devoted to such a noble cause.

'The E! True Hollywood Story: Heidi Klum'
(9PM, E!)
'Project Runway' co-stars Michael Kors and Tim Gunn, and Klum herself, give new interviews for this 'THS,' which also includes footage of Klum's career-making win in a European modeling contest, childhood pics and clips of her endearing yodeling appearance on David Letterman's 'Late Show.'

'Numb3rs'
(10PM, CBS)
Ayyyyyyy! Henry 'The Fonz' Winkler guest stars as an FBI agent who's on the trail of a baddie who's been eluding him for years. And if you guessed he's come to Don for help, you are correctamundo.

Starter Wife'The Starter Wife'

(10PM, USA)
With enemies like Eve, who needs friends? Not Molly, whose tell-all diary may be turned into a book thanks to her rival's agent husband.

'Degrassi: The Next Generation'
(8PM, The N)
We still have much love for Degrassi, but we miss the good old days when Paige was being a major B to everyone, Toby and J.T. were dorking out in front of all the females, Emma was being uptight and preachy and Craig was cheating on Ashley and getting Manny preggers. Good times. Plus, stick around for the spooky 'Curse of Degrassi.'

'Stargate Atlantis'
(9PM, Sci Fi)
Sheppard and his crew do the perp walk when the interplanetary council accuses them of not playing nice with the peeps of the Pegasus Galaxy.

'What Not to Wear'
(9PM, TLC)
Mala is an attorney whose after-work wardrobe consists of jeans and tees. Stacey and Clinton are the makeover gurus who are going to object to her many crimes against fashion.

What's on this weekend: 'Mad Men' finale, 'World's Ugliest Dog Competition' and more
