Forget those promos, Law and Order: CI delayed until 2009

Jeff GoldblumUSA Network has been showing a lot of ads for the new Jeff Goldblum-infused season of Law and Order: Criminal Intent. The new episodes are supposed to start on November 7, but now it looks like the show has been delayed until some time next year.

This morning the network confirmed that the new season of the show won't start until 2009. They say it will be "early 2009," but then again they first said the show would come back on November 6, then November 7, and now there has been another delay. It's odd that a network would have all of these ads for a show so close to the premiere date and then pull the show for several months. USA hasn't said why they've done this.

This is too bad. Law and Order: CI isn't a show I watch regularly, but I was looking forward to Goldblum's debut as a detective. I liked Raines (one of the 27 people around the country, apparently), and I can't wait to see him be all Goldblum-y in the L&O franchise.

Maybe CI painted itself into a corner by having Bobby undercover and then finding a rat in his desk. He even hurt his partner after all she's done for him. The writer's should remember that fans remember every plot and every deed done. Bobby and Eames work best when they work as one. Show us the end of the story with his nephew and the apology he needs the really give Eames. I am very excited about Jeff Goldblum's charactor. C'mon, USA, stop making us wait!!!!

I think maybe there might have been more like about 50 who liked Raines, including me and my husband. I thought it was one of the most interesting things he's done. I really like him, but most of his vehicles are not great.

"A spokesperson for the show tells TVGuide.com that Criminal Intent is in good shape, but that "based on the overall TV landscape and in this economy, it made sense to maximize the value" of the show by airing all 16 episodes in an uninterrupted run during the first quarter of 2009."

Maybe they realized the mistake in letting go of Chris Noth!

Maybe they want to keep it paired with In Plain Sight. Doesn't that come back in early 2009?

I initially read the headline as "Law and Order: CSI" and it's somewhat appropriate.

Is this "pushback" due to some illness that Vincent D'Onofrio has? He looked ill all through the 7th season and seemed (over and above the bad things happening to his character) very tired and possibly in pain with none of the usual Robert Goren attitude at all.

I guess there's an answer to the question why they did this.

I fear it could be found with journalistic effort.

Journalistic effort? Bob? I don't know what's worse, the fact that pretty much all the bloggers decided to leave this site or the fact that the one who seemed to stay around was Bob.
