What to Watch Thursday, Oct. 30

by Kim Potts, posted Oct 30th 2008 5:00AM
30 rock'30 Rock'
(9:30PM, NBC) 3rd season premiere
If '30 Rock's' second-consecutive Outstanding Comedy Series Emmy brings in new viewers, this episode will be an intro to the show at its best.

Liz Lemon (Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series Tina Fey) has decided there's room to fill in her life after an 80-hour work week, so she's trying to adopt a baby.

But first, she has to impress adoption agent Bev (guest star Megan Mullally), who stops by the office just as Tracy is celebrating the success of his pornographic video game and Jack (Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series Alec Baldwin) may have to sleep with Geiss's soap opera addict, Dora underpants-wearing, Mark Wahlberg-lovin' daughter to get his GE job back.

'Ugly Betty'
(8PM, ABC)
Go ahead and party like it's 1984, because Ralph 'Daniel-san' Macchio guest stars as a new customer at Hilda's shop.

'The Office'
(9PM, NBC)
Remember the scene in 'Legally Blonde' where Reese Witherspoon shows up to the costume party in a Playboy bunny outfit, only to find out it's not really a costume party? Pam has a similar experience when she goes to work at the corporate office on Halloween.

'My Name Is Earl'
(8PM, NBC)
Halloween is all tricks and no treats for the Hickey brothers, as Earl tries to throw a party for Dodge and Earl Jr., and Randy tries to be a big brother to Catalina's Damian-like nephew.

'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia'
(10PM, FX)
Sweet Dee's heart attack leads to the gang's take on health care, but we're really waiting for that musical episode 'Sunny' creator and star Rob McElhenney has promised for later this season.

'The Sarah Silverman Program'
(10:30PM, Comedy Central)
The aforementioned 'Sunny' gang recently did an episode on pooping in bed, and now Sarah does one on wetting her bed. Just goes to prove what any third-grader will tell you: Poo and pee equal comedy gold.

'Life on Mars'
(10PM, ABC)
Sam better hold on to his wide-collared leisure suit, because he's in for a shocker when he realizes he's very familiar with a mobster's assault victim in 1973. Very familiar, as in, he's known her since birth.

Also on tonight:
- 'Supernatural' (9PM, CW)
- 'The Real Exorcist' (8PM, SCI FI)

What's on tomorrow: '13 Most Outrageous Hollywood Curses,' 'Ghost Whisperer' and more
