What to Watch Friday, Nov. 7

by Kim Potts, posted Nov 7th 2008 5:00AM
ghost whisperer'Ghost Whisperer'
(8PM, CBS)
Those rumors you've been hearing about a certain someone, a certain main someone with a very close relationship to titular 'Ghost Whisperer' Melinda?

Well, they're true, and they're coming true in tonight's pivotal episode. To elaborate would be unfair to those viewers who hate spoilers, so we won't tell you whether or not someone dies, though we will point out that if someone, someone with a very close relationship to Melinda, does die, it does not necessarily mean he or she will necessarily not be a part of the show any longer.

Perhaps he or she will, instead, return to help Melinda see how things feel on the other side of the ghost whispering process. But really, we're not elaborating any further.

'Survivorman'
(9PM, Discovery) 3rd season premiere
Les is back, and his first scenario this season: He's a backpacker, armed only with a tent, a sleeping bag and a flashlight to survive alone in the Sierra Nevada mountains.

'Whale Wars'
(9PM, Animal Planet) series premiere
The documentary follows the controversial Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, founded by Greenpeace co-founder Paul Watson, as crew members try to stop Japanese whaling efforts in the Antarctic. And yes, it's a cause made trendy recently because of 'Heroes' star Hayden Panettiere's save the whales efforts.

'CMT Crossroads: Def Leppard and Taylor Swift'
(9PM, CMT)
It's a quirky pairing, which is the whole point of the CMT concert series. In this episode, teen country sensation Swift jams with the British rockers on 'Pour Some Sugar on Me,' while Def Leppard returns the favor on Swift's 'Love Story.'

'The E! True Hollywood Story: Hulk Hogan & Family'
(8PM, E!)
A brief recap: Hulk and the missus, Linda, are getting divorced. He's dating a woman who looks like his daughter, Linda's dating a kid who looks like her son (and is roughly the same age), daughter Brooke is starring in an unwatchable reality show and busily updating her MySpace page with rants about her fam and son Nick just got out of prison. Somehow, E!'s stretching that into two hours.

'Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?'

(8PM, Fox)
Maybe KISS frontman Gene Simmons, tonight's competitor, is, and maybe he isn't smarter than a 5th grader. But let's see these 5th grade punks rock out on "Rock and Roll All Nite" while wearing dragon platform boots. Not so smug now, are you kiddies?

Also on tonight:
- 'Crusoe' (9PM, NBC)
- 'Crash' (10PM, Starz_

What's on tomorrow: 'Ruby,' 'Summer Heights High' and more
