The Amazing Race: My Nose Is On Fire

(S13E07) Dazed and confused in both New and Old Delhi, it's time for The Amazing Race teams to step up to the plate and prove they want the million dollars. Sure, it's a confusing place. But standing in the middle of the street looking lost probably isn't the best approach. Ah, but some teams whine, some get to bickering, some wimp out when the times get tough. Then again, others go all out and go for the gold. Or -- in tonight's episode -- the gold, the green, the pink, and more! Read on for my full review of the show.
The dense get denser
Amazing ... the teams who previously misread clues keep it up for yet another episode! Kelly and Christy keep getting by, but they have a record for either misreading or just not grasping clues. Tonight it would be their downfall although they had some company in the form of Dandrew in the Detour. Now, these guys might be frat brothers, but I'm thinking their college had to have pretty lenient entrance standards.
But let's focus on the divorced gals first. You did realize they're both divorced, right? I'm not sure if that's been mentioned enough. At the flinging powdered dye and water Holi Festival Roadblock, Kelly not only misread the clue (leading her to grab any envelope she touched), but she also wimped out on a catastrophic major kind of level. Her reaction made Terence look like a macho dude! I couldn't help but wonder what happens if someone actually does quit a task.
Then, later on in the Detour, every team but Dandrew and the Divorcees seemed to understand that "numbered tags" means tags, not signs. When the boys tried to team up with them, all I could think was that the clueless would be leading the mindless ... or vice versa.
Talky Tina and Ken Doll strike back
I know I don't want to like these two. Usually it's because of Tina and her mouth. Tonight she did call the Holi Festival dye attackers "asses" and "morons," but she also impressed me with her behavior at the Sikh Temple while dealing with the Speed Bump. On the other hand, I thought Ken was the rude and coarse one in that task. Huh. Maybe they personality switch?
They showed they have what it takes to get back in the running. When these two don't bicker, they actually work well together as a team. Of course, it was to their advantage that a few teams are dumber than rocks when it comes to reading and comprehending clues.
Pit Stop
Nick and Starr came in first with Dallas and Toni running close behind them. They won a trip to Hawaii. I believe they deserved the first place showing, but I'd be thrilled if the Mom/Son team got in at least one first place showing this season. Hmm ... maybe the last Pit Stop? By choosing to work together on the number tags, both of these teams made quick work of the task and it all boiled down to transportation. Terence and Sarah were the third team while the Ken and Tina team hit fourth place.
So, the final was between Dense and Denser. Tina was kind to help out Dandrew, but the gals also caught on to the fact they were reading the wrong signs all along. And, in the end, the boys made it to the Pit Stop in fifth place while the gals got Philiminated. With these two teams, either could have gone in my opinion. At least the guys don't keep bringing up ex-girlfriends.
Random observations:
- Best line of the night -- Terence to Sarah: "Who's my girl?" Sarah: "You are! Er ... I am."
- I thought the Charity Birds Hospital clue was way too easy for them to find. As a matter of fact, I was disappointed with that whole task. The only thing it reminded me of is that I learned years ago that Jains often sweep the path in front of them as they walk so they won't kill bugs.
- Can Terence whine just a bit more? Pouring water in his nose? I think Sarah picked up his whining bug in the Detour.
- As Sarah complained about the shopkeeper in the Teary-Eyed Detour task, I think the one at the Bleary-Eyed task was a hoot. What a ham, but he had me laughing. That's him napping as Dandrew get more confused in the image leading off this review.
- Kelly and Christy just had to get in one last dig at their ex-husbands after being Philiminated. Maybe ironing sheets is a bit much, but I bet those guys are happy bachelors.
