Fox is pushing back Cleveland

by Brad Trechak, posted Nov 11th 2008 5:14PM
ClevelandThe Family Guy spin-off from Seth McFarlane and company called Cleveland (formerly The Cleveland Show) is being pushed back by Fox and likely will not debut this season.

No doubt the speculation regarding this decision will run wild throughout the Internet. My guess is that Fox wanted more episodes for a stronger Sunday night animation line-up. With the end of King of the Hill on Fox, there is now room, plus three of the four shows will be from Seth McFarlane (the non-Seth show being The Simpsons). No wonder he's so loaded.

While I personally don't think Cleveland (the character, not the show) is not strong enough to carry his own program, I eagerly await to be proven wrong. His persona was always (intentionally) very boring in Family Guy. However, his character could be reactionary to other, stronger characters on the show (see Jerry Seinfeld).

On a side note, it looks like Ariana Huffington will be voicing a character in the new series. Given the similarity between McFarlane's and Huffington's politics, this should suprise no one.

I'm still waiting for that Joe Swanson/Brock Samson crossover. Still waiting.

Cleveland? He's good for a couple home run one-liners but if anyone deserves a spin-off (lol..talking like they're real or something here) it would definitely be Quagmire. giggidy giggidy giggidy

It looks like Peter was banging Cleveland wife. That fat kid looks just like a young black Peter.

I really hope this gets cancelled. I like Family Guy but this is just a bad idea for a show.

And is it just me or does the 'fat' son look more like Peter than Chris? Hmmmm...

Again, we can't have King Of The Hill WHY?

Wow

Wow, looks like Cleveland has a fat son, a daughter, a wife and a baby. Is that McFarlane's cookie-cutter family for success? How many of Family Guy's obviously recycled voices are going to be on this one? Hopefully not as many as American Dad.

I think Seth is getting too big for his britches.
He's becoming more vocal about his personal views outside of his shows and that's something I can not stand about hollywood types.
Now to watch this new show I have to suffer through more Ariana? Ugg. We had enough of her when she tried to run for Governor of California.
Count me out if this one ever makes it to air.

When Futurama was cancelled, I stopped viewing Sunday nights. I especially disliked King Of The Hill, I had enough of rednecks in the Army.
