McMajor is permanently admitted to Grey's Anatomy

by Isabelle Carreau, posted Nov 11th 2008 6:16PM
Grey's AnatomyHahn is out and Hunt is in! An ABC representative confirmed to People that Scottish actor Kevin McKidd, who recently starred in the canceled-too-soon Journeyman, has been upped to series regular on Grey's Anatomy.

When it was announced that McKidd was in talks to appear on Grey's Anatomy this fall as Major Owen Hunt, a military doctor, it was also mentioned that the stint was to be a recurring one that could be upped to a regular one if the audience responded well to the character.

Looks like the audience will get more screen time for McMajor!

McKidd appeared in four episodes of Grey's so far this season and is set to appear in this week's episode as well. Since the show is currently producing episodes 13 and 14, it's possible that we won't really witness on screen McKidd's regular status until mid-season, meaning that there may be a few McMajor-less episodes until then.

I don't know about you, but I welcome the news of McKidd becoming a series regular. I've enjoyed McKidd's acting skills during his short stint on Journeyman and have been entertained by his character's unusual ways to do medicine on Grey's. And it's about time Cristina Yang gets a real love interest! I only have one request for the show: have McKidd shave his beard. Only then will he really be fully deserving of the "McMajor" title and be allowed to be put on the same "cutie" pedestal we put McDreamy and McSteamy on.

They need some changes on this program instead of the same 'ol, same 'ol!! Let's see some new faces and new stories--this program can improve itself with a "home makeover" on the set! Let's hope they can utilize some creative writing with some hot personalities and hot guest appearances with some name movie stars--what they couldn't DO with this show--it's the best on TV but needs a facelift!!

I am glad Hahn is out. I liked her as just a doc., but to be the lover to Ramierz, just did not work. I hope she and McSteamy get it on more. I just love the show. It's the best!!

OK. I don't know about you people but don't you think that it is a disgrace that even on this great show they are lacking some common sense in regards to the new interns. I mean everything revolves around major characters but what happens to all these new people Lexie and the others about learning some very needed medical skills. I am a bit upset that this has been going on and that the writers are completely forgetting about these people, I wonder, if this was to happen why did she even include them in the cast. In my opinion even to the 2yr residents this does not look good, they are supposed to teach and learn something themselves. Please Shonda do something!

just when there is something different introduced
showing the conflict that actually happens to people in real life the choices they make or try to make they stop it . so what if people are gay it is a part of society that will never vanish .you don't have to like it or even accept it .it just is .people waste too much time in hatred .instead of grabbing real happinesss for them selves .ps.whatever to love -kindness and compassion and the teaching of tolerance ? maybe the next time they write a storyline like that they will take a different approach like on the soap opera all my children.

Mckidd is a great add 2 the show. Cristina so needs to feel his "kung fu grip" !! lol Sorry to see Hahn go, but she was too much of a hardass; but who knows? She could leave and still cause probs for Izzie... it was NOT cool tho the subplot about the students using the dead bodies for practice--that has to be 90 kinds of illegal.

I liked McKidd better as a centurion on Roma. He really knew how to slice and dice on that show. And, he did it with such gusto. As for Grey's Anatomy, it's as lame as George W. Bush. As the reporter says following the election on August 4th, "Yes, Virginia. there is a Santa Clause and the good guys can and do win."

Erica Hahn was the only remotely interesting character on the show. If the network had a problem with "real" woman playing girl-on-girl they could have ended the lesbian story line and kept the character.

The rest of the cast are lackluster and boring, with tired tedious storylines.

Good play ABC, you're already No. 9 in ratings with Grey's and you've just lost one more viewer. Idiots!

I think K. McKidd is an absolutely great addition to Grey's! I watch only to see the interaction between him and Yang; and Cristina definitely needs somebody whose shown he's not afraid to go toe-to-toe with her. I'd much rather watch them than hear Meredith whining through the whole show about one thing or another. Unfortunately the show's named for her so I guess on that issue, I'm stuck.
