Monday night: A tale of two ratings

by Bob Sassone, posted Nov 11th 2008 1:13PM
Christian SlaterWouldn't it be great if we didn't have to worry about TV ratings? That we could watch all of our favorite shows and not have to worry about them being watched by a lot of people, getting good ratings, and all that? And they'd be on for as long as we wanted?

Back to reality.

My Own Worst Enemy, the new Christian Slater spy show that I happen to like a lot, got its lowest ratings yet last night. The number was down 22% from the previous week. I think that kinda translates into "not many people really care about this show." I don't think any show can succeed in NBC's Monday at 10 slot, at least not in the past three or four years, and MOWE is no exception. It's up against CBS's CSI: Miami and ABC's Boston Legal, which gets a strong lead-in from Dancing with the Stars and Samantha Who?

On the other end of the ratings spectrum we have The Bing Bang Theory, which got the best ratings they've ever had. I think this was the episode where they actually proved the big gang theory.

As for NBC's other shows? Ugh. Chuck was down yet again and Heroes got its worst ratings yet. FOX, with The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Prison Break, came in fourth but both shows did pretty well.

M-O-W-E is a very good show, I've switched from Boston Legal. I wish he would switch so much and a few more kills & bombs would be good. SPY STUFF! Good Luck M-O-W-E!!

I really like this show but I've only been able to watch episodes online. There's just too much on on monday nights and my DVR can't keep up. One of my room mates records Boston Legal while the other one records WWE.
As soon as DVR's can record 4 or 5 shows at once... I may never leave my house.

I'll watch Christian Slater blowing balloons for an hour on TV. I don't care what he's in, I'll love it.
But MOWE is actually sort of interesting. I'm a bit concerned about how they can keep the stories fresh each week. I hope they dont make the wife a spy too - too MR. and Mrs. Smith for my liking.

I think the die is cast here. I like this show more each week, but it is apparent to me that NBC will not give it a chance.
They could at least give it a different (better) slot for the rest of the season, then can it for next season if it doesn't perform.
I know its about the most money with the least effort, so they won't do anything they don't think will work... Too bad.

Well, I really like it & last night's was well done. Maybe NBC should just run the old 'Test Pattern' in that time-slot. Nothing else seems to work.

Nothing has given them numbers as good as Studio 60's in this spot and I hope that continues for a long time to come!

I think NBC is going to cancel the show but I doubt they will do it now.

I really like this show. Hope they give it a chance. So - tired of CSI: Miami and the sunglasses. You'd think they were a character on the show.

I was really bored with My Own Worst Enemy but I watch it anyway because its on after Heroes and Chuck. But last night's episode was the best yet. It brough one of the things the show was really missing- a tough, smart, sexy female spy/girlfriend- and showed us more of how the agency works, and the price of such a lifestyle.

But they'll probably cancel it now that its getting interesting. I bet they're kicking their asses for dumping Journeyman now...

Studio 60

Just admit that Harriet and Matt had no chemistry whatsoever.
