Ghost Whisperer: The aftermath following Jim's death

Ghost Whisperer
Many of you were pretty vocal after watching last week's episode of Ghost Whisperer. Based on the comments left to my "Reactions to Ghost Whisperer's big twist" post, it was clear that the majority was not pleased with Jim's death and a lot of you claimed you would never watch the series again! My guess is that many of you tuned in this week anyway to see what would happen to Jim. Would he cross over? Would he stay in between? Would he wake up and discover it was all a dream? Would he find a way to be alive again?

Sadly, the answer, for now, takes the form of actor Kenneth Mitchell.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Kenneth Mitchell. However, his role on the show makes me an unhappy GW fan and I'm sure I'm not alone feeling this way. I took a peek at spoilers for the upcoming episodes and I can confirm that Mitchell will appear in at least 5 episodes as Sam Lucas, the man Jim took over.

As you know, even if I would prefer no character dies, I've been looking forward to Jim's death as it could provide insight about how the ghosts live. It did give us a glimpse at the ghost world but all these tidbits were overshadowed by the WTF? OMG! ending of the episode. What are the writers thinking? Do the show's creators really believe fans will accept Sam "Jim 2.0" Lucas especially if he suffers from memory loss as hinted at the end of this week's episode?

I'm "thisclose" to saying that Ghost Whisperer officially jumped the shark with this storyline. Because Jennifer Love Hewitt and David Conrad had great chemistry and portrayed one of the best couples on TV nowadays, I doubt fans of the show (and I include myself in this) will welcome Kenneth Mitchell with open arms. The only way we may accept this change is if David Conrad also portrays Sam Lucas so that sometimes we see Sam as David Conrad and other times as Mitchell. That way, we still have our weekly Conrad fix until they find an official way to have Jim be Jim again.

I truly hope the writers and creators know what they are doing because they entered "jumping shark" waters and may not be able to get out of it, which could hurt the show a lot!

What do you think of the episode ending? Will you continue watching the show or are you officially done with it? Get your crystal ball out and let us know what you think will happen next on the show for Melinda and Jim/Jim 2.0.

Has Ghost Whisperer jumped the shark?

One of the key elements for a TV show succeed is charismatic characters. Now is it my impression or the creators of Ghost Whisperer have been systematically eliminating all the cool, interesting and charming characters of the show? First, it was Andrea. Then, they decided to send professor Pane on a trip he's certainly not coming back. And now they seem to have decided to just kill the show itself by killing Jim. I totally agree with what's been said above, the chemistry between David Conrard and Jenniffer Love Hewitt is amazing, and yes, they form (or at least used to) one of the most endearing couples nowadays.

Disappointment, frustration and irritation are some of the many words I could use to say how I felt when I saw the episode. I confess that along the show there times I asked myself if someday Jim would die, but I thought that they wouldn't make the huge mistake to create such a cliché - yes, it would be totally predictable that someday he would die, and as I thought (or at least used to think) that the show was different in many (great) aspects, that it wouldn't happen.

But it did. Sadly, and I'm not sure if these changes, suposedly meant to give it some "fresh air," will make me keep on watching it.

I won't belabor the same points that many other viewers have already made. I just wanted to post as one more formerly loyal viewer who just permanently quit watching Ghost Whisperer. I gave it a chance. I watched a couple more episodes after they killed off Jim - but it's just not the same. It's just too bad that the writers had to go and ruin what used to be such a good show.

I've stopped watching Ghost Whisper, I loved this show, but it always takes off the people I like. We really do not need another ghost (Jim), why not kill Melinda off, and she can be with the ghost & be their crossing guard!

Dr. Payne went on a 'Sabatical', but I wonder if this is just a 'holding card' for him in the event that his show bombs and he can come back?

Either way, I agree that the producers/writers (and this includes Jennifer Love-Hewett since she's one of the producers!) reallly screwed up! The show is over if they don't find a way to bring Jim back as HIM and HUMAN! They can still do it, by making this all a bad dream! It's been done before, so why not? If they don't, then maybe they KNOW the ratings will die, and it's all a plan to end it permanently? If so, what a way to treat their fans!

Either, I will be DONE with GW next season! NOTHING to look forward to now!

To the producers and writers of "ghost whisperer" Congratulations on ruining the best television series in years. I am so dissapointed and angry over what was done with Jim's character that I can not watch the show any longer. It was such a perfect show. The chemistry between the actors was amazing. I don't want a reincarnated Jim, (sorry, David Conrad, you could have done a lot of things to make your role more satisfying, but not this!!!! )

For the Producers and Directors of "Ghost Whisperer"! I was watching this show because of the "Love" of the two main characters Jim and Melinda! Their chemistry and communication was a foundation in their marriage and a joy to watch! And with their hopes of a baby coming into the family, I would watch with even more enthusiasm!

Why would I watch now? What reason do I have to escape into your weekly show when you just created no hope for Melinda or Jim or any possibility of a baby?

I hope that Jim's gun shot scenario is creating these dream episodes purely for shock value! But I don't see how you can get out of this one!
