Seth Rogen to make more porn

by Brad Trechak, posted Nov 18th 2008 10:26AM
Seth Rogen in Knocked UpI don't know whether to pity or exalt Seth Rogen. The man has essentially become a celebrity from potty humor. First, he's in a bunch of movies that are almost porn (including one with "porno" in the title). Now, he's co-developing a series for Showtime with the premise of three guys that run a pornography shop.

It seems unlikely that Rogen would step in front of the camera for this series, given his movie career at the moment. But hey, anything is possible. I suspect the series will reflect the perverted sense of humor he displayed in his writing of the movie Superbad.

Perhaps it's a Canadian thing. He joins a long line of Canucks who garnered fame and fortune via television. The list includes William Shatner and Michael J. Fox.

Rogen stands as proof that anybody with a little luck can actually become a movie star (and television producer). As a result, he earns my admiration and envy.

Oh yeah, a Canadian thing for sure. Um, what??
(Withholding what I really want to say.)

Shatner started as a stage actor. He was classically trained and performed at the Stratford Festival. Eventually he became his own parody.

Regarding Rogan, I wouldn't so much call it "luck" as the fact that Judd Apatow cast him in Freaks & Geeks and then brought him along for his other projects. It's likely that Rogan got some training along the way, and downtime between acting projects gave him time to write etc. Maybe there's some luck in there, but it started with being cast in Freaks and Geeks.

Sorry to be so critical of a post that praises Rogan when I have nothing negative to say about the man, but the post appeared to be misguided.

you clearly haven't seen anything from him to talk about him that way. This guy has changed comedy about sex from the heavy and stupid (american pie years) thing it was, into smart and fun movies to watch such as superbad which is for me one of the only comedies worth watching these last years.

I haven't seen Rogen's latest movie, but yea, absolutely none of his movies are almost porn, and potty humor is not even a plurality of the jokes in his movies. Are you talking about a different Seth Rogen?

I say, "More power to him." He makes a hell of a lot more money than you or I.

None of his movies were almost porn. Putting the word porn in the title doesn't make it so.

His last movie did involve the production of porn. His character was one of the stars of the porn. The title title of the movie was "Zack and Miri Make a Porno". The title of the article makes sense to me.

Dan, I have no issue with the title, it's "he's in a bunch of movies that are almost porn" that is questionable.
