What to Watch Weekend, Nov. 21-22

by Kim Potts, posted Nov 22nd 2008 5:00AM
24 redemption'24: Redemption'
(Sun., 8PM, Fox)
Jack's back, in this two-hour '24' movie that sets up the show's seventh season in January.

What's the man who's saved the world from terrorists and crooked presidents been up to since last we saw him? He's been working as a missionary in Africa, helping a friend run a school, while avoiding U.S. government officials who want to question him about all his world-saving activities.

Jack's quest for peace is interrupted when a vicious rebel planning to overthrow the African government tries to turn the school's children into soldiers, putting Jack in yet another impossible situation: Does he save the kids from almost certain death or does he flee and save himself from a government inquisition? C'mon, he's Jack.

A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All
(Sun., 10PM, Comedy Central)
In a deliciously clever spoof of celeb holiday specials, Stephen Colbert gets trapped in his upstate New York cabin by a bear, and has to rely on Christmas carols and friends like Elvis Costello, Willie Nelson and Jon Stewart to help him celebrate the season.

'2008 American Music Awards'

(Sun., 8PM, ABC)
Performer Alicia Keys is likely to be the big winner since she has an AMA-leading five noms. Other performers include Taylor Swift, Ne-Yo, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, New Kids on the Block, Beyonce, Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers. And, if we're lucky, maybe host Jimmy Kimmel will play his 'Jimmy Kimmel Is F**king Ben Affleck' video.

'True Blood'

(Sun., 9PM, HBO) 1st season finale
Sookie may have figured out the identity of the Bon Temps murderer. But knowledge is not power here, because she may also become the killer's next victim.

'Entourage'

(Sun., 10PM, HBO) 5th season finale
You can go home again, though, in Vince's case, it's with much less star power. After getting bounced from 'Smoke Jumpers,' Vinnie and the boys head back to Queens, and E and Ari find out it's becoming difficult to even get their client an audition.

'My Big Redneck Wedding'

(Sat. 9PM, CMT) 2nd season finale
What do you call a couple of small-town Washingtonians who want to get married and blend their five kids into a family as an excuse to throw a par-tay? A redneck 'Brady Bunch'? Yeehaw.

'Saturday Night Live'

(Sat., 11:29PM, NBC)
Like a hip-hop Donnie and Marie, tonight's 'SNL' is a little bit country (host Tim McGraw) and a little bit rap 'n soul (musical guests Ludacris and T-Pain).

Also on this weekend:
- 'The Naked Brothers Band' (Sat., 9PM, Nickelodeon)
- 'An Old Fashioned Thanksgiving' (Sat., 9PM, Hallmark)
- 'The Girls Next Door' (Sun., 10PM, E!)
- 'Skins' (Sun., 10PM, BBC America)

What's on Monday: 'Samantha Who?,' 'How I Met Your Mother' and more
