A sneak peek at Courteney Cox on Scrubs - VIDEO

by Allison Waldman, posted Dec 2nd 2008 8:16AM
Courteney CoxIf you wonder if Scrubs will still feel like an NBC sitcom when it moves to ABC in January, the answer is probably yes. That's especially true since the January 6th one-hour premiere -- back to back episodes -- will be the start of Courteney Cox's guest role on Scrubs in a three episode arc as Sacred Heart's new chief of medicine.

That's right, a Friendly face -- Monica Geller Bing is going to be wearing the long white coat with the stethoscope around her neck, and apparently driving J.D. nuts.

Not nuts in the way Dr. Cox drives him nuts. Courteney's character is a vamp. A hottie. A sexually alluring woman who makes J.D. fantasize in ways that Dr. Cox never has. Kona wrote about the guest role back in July, but here's a snippet of the upcoming episode, and you can see the key word here to describe her character is "friendly."

I'm really looking forward to more Scrubs -- thank you, ABC for the pick up -- and I have no doubt that Cox is going to be really wonderful. If there's one thing you can count on with Scrubs, it's the high caliber writing, and given the right material, Ms. Courteney is a very good comic actor. Also, she's really better at ensemble work -- like Friends -- as opposed to carrying the load, kind of like Dirt. Also, Joel has already shared an early look and based on his impressions, I'm officially psyched.

Hehe I wonder if they'll make the 'JD and Elliott are no Ross and Rachael" for the third time? :-)

Can't wait. Loved the show's first three seasons, then discovered Arrested Development and stopped watching other comedies for a few years. But I recently splurged out on the last few seasons and it found it's form again. Should be good!
