Here's where the next Survivor will be set

by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 12th 2008 6:03PM
SurvivorSurvivor host Jeff Probst usually reveals the location of the next season at the end of the live reunion show which happens at the end of the last episode (this Sunday at 8 on CBS). But the news has been released a little early this season.

Probst was on Ryan Seacrest's show (yes, I know, this is the second Seacrest interview I've linked to this week - who knew he'd be such a fountain of breaking news?), and Probst reveals that the next season of the show will be in Brazil. Which means it's another jungle setting, which means we can expect more bugs, more heat, perhaps some rainstorms and footage of animals that usually don't make it anywhere near the camps. In fact, they're already done filming the next season, which debuts on February 12.

Probst also talks about running into Anderson Cooper when he was doing The Mole and the debacle that was The Emmys.

I've said this before but everyone always yells at me, but I think they should try a season in a cold climate. Wouldn't that be interesting? Throw everyone a curve and set it in Canada or Alaska or wherever (I'm sure there are other places too - it doesn't have to be below 0). It would certainly shake things up if they did that.

And if you're worried about not having girls in bikinis, they can always have a hot tub as a reward.

Cold place in North America - but during the summer - see how constant light effects the contestants. Give them some food and keep them warm, but see if they suffer from like night deprivation or something. I would like a season without seeing legs all bit up by bugs and odd skin rashes. I could also take not seeing guys and girls in dirty, stretched out underwear.

I would like to see it someplace cold too... How about Siberian or Anartica

Cool! I like the jungle-shows, almost as much as the tropical islands... As beautiful as Africa is, this season was somewhat lackluster regarding the survival-aspects. I enjoy the show more when the contestants really have to "survive"...

Wouldn't need to be a cold climate Survivor if they did it in the BC Interior and used a First Nations theme for their "locals" stuff. There are a lot of remote areas in there that would have nice weather during the summer.

Well... Mark Burnett got his start doing an wilderness show in British Columbia I heard, so it would make sense for him to go back there.

I think Survivor in the Northern Territories or in Northern Alaska would work the best (and be less dangerous) during the summer, where it's almost constant sunlight.

I would love to see a Survivor set in Canada or something, but you'd have to give the survivors blankets.

not necessarily. They'd just have to get to know each other a lot better.

I agree they need a cold weather setting for one of the upcoming Survivor shows.
