What to Watch Friday, Dec. 19

by Kim Potts, posted Dec 19th 2008 5:00AM
Zac Efron'The E! True Hollywood Story -- Young Hollywood: A to Zac'
(8PM, E!)
Never-before-seen footage of Zac Efron playing Snoopy in a school production of 'You're a Good Man Charlie Brown'? Tales of the Jonas Brothers' playground flirtations? Home footage of Taylor Swift singing 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' as a toddler?

It's teen-tastic, and all a part of E!'s two-hour special on the under-21 set who rule the tube, the music scene and the big screen.

All the usual suspects -- which, of course, also includes the ubiquitous Miley Cyrus -- are covered, via exclusive footage, interviews and tales from those who knew them before they were famous ... and earning more as children than most of us will make in our lifetimes. Hooray for Young Hollywood.

'Survivorman'

Yep, Les Stroud says tonight's survival adventure, which finds him stranded in Papua New Guinea for a week, will be his last. But at least he goes out with some unforgettable memories. "I got horribly sick. It was coming out all ends and I was in the middle of the jungle with no facilities." Good times.

'Whale Wars'
(9PM, Animal Planet) 1st season finale
When Watson faces off against the crew of what he considers to be the most evil of the whaling factory ships, he claims to have suffered a gunshot wound to scare up some media coverage of his cause.

(8PM, CBS)
Considering the drama she's faced with her own relationship this season, Melinda is just the person to help a ghost (guest Rena Sofer) who needs to face some difficult truths about her own marriage.

'Don't Forget the Lyrics'

(9PM, Fox)
Two kings of '80s pop culture -- Chuck Woolery and formerly big-haired boys of Air Supply -- try to help two strangers win some cash and maybe a little romance. Hey, if the song stylings of Air Supply don't lead to a hook up, what will?

'Modern Marvels'
(8PM, History)
An episode devoted to obsolete technology, like typewriters, film cameras and the cell phone you bought a month ago.

(9PM, Style)
A countdown of the 25 fashion tips that ensure you never end up on the magazine's pages with one of those little black bars across your face.
