What happened to Playhouse Disney this morning?

by Richard Keller, posted Jan 5th 2009 2:09PM

What happened with Playhouse Disney this morning? My kids would like to know. The following item is for those of you parents out there with young children. Those of you who watch soft-core porn in the morning can disregard this post.

Did any of you notice something weird with the Playhouse Disney schedule this morning? Starting at 6 a.m. EST you get JoJo's Circus, Johnny and the Sprites and The Wiggles, and those mini-episodes that the network imports from Canada. That wasn't the case this morning. Instead we got Phineas and Ferb, Imagination Movers and Handy Manny. In addition, Ooh and Ahh, and all of the labels that it was Playhouse Disney were gone as well. By 8:00 a.m. things looked to have been corrected as Little Einsteins aired at its normal time.

Now, to normal people this wouldn't be an issue. On the other hand, it matters greatly to the kids who set their clocks by these Playhouse Disney shows and notice when things are different. Even my 8-year-old noticed the changes and actually mentioned the network seemed to be running their schedule backwards. So, Disney Channel executives, what happened this morning? My kids would like to know.

UPDATE: :Thanks to one of our readers we've found out that Disney has pushed their Playhouse Disney schedule back to 8:00 a.m. There's a good chance they'll lose some viewers to this.

Wow I think that is pretty sad that you all have time to write and complain to Disney, but you plop your kids in front of that t.v. so much that they actually know the schedule. Get a grip people and play with your kids and enjoy them, they will be grown up and gone and your going to wonder where that time went......to the Wiggles.

We don't catch those shows on tv but I know what people are talking about when I shedule gets changed again.
We as parents have to explain why things change. Like life for toddlers isn't tough enough already.
My son (4) likes Johnny and the Sprites and used to play games and stuff through the Disney Channel Kids Website on the pc and became part of his important daily routine. Suddenly he starts crying and freakes out and has a hard time explaining why he is upset. We now know that the Johny and the Sprites games have moved or have been cancelled of the site completely. There is no trace of any game anywhere on the internet. Where's Johnny?
I've sent an email through the contact options on the website, no repy yet.
ps: One thing I've learned. Toddlers like to watch something good over and over and over again. It never gets bored. Maybe the programmers of the tv shows should realize that. It's ok to run reruns from last season again and again. WE don't mind.
They'll save some money and we have less headaches.
Thank you.

Hi folks-

I worked on the TV show, Johnny and the Sprites. I think it's also an amazing show. Unfortunately, even though it was very popular, Disney has taken it off to give Imagination Movers more airtime, or so they say. I've had a lot of Moms and Dads ask me what to do, and the best thing to do is write emails or letters to Programming c/o Playhouse Disney. I don't have the Disney channel address but google it and you should be able to find it. Or go to playhousedisney.com. we all love the show and want it to be back on!!! thanks!

My local cable provider (Tulsa, OK) states that Doodlebops is returning to morning programming on Disney channel, Tuesday, 27th January. I'll be holding my breath. Good luck to all the other shows that are currently missing.

Are the Doodlebops gone for good? My son only watches 3 shows and his favorite is Doodlebops. Does anyone know who is going to carry the Doodlebops or how to email Disney to ask them if it will return? Thanks.

Disney has sold its soul. There's very little quality remaining, and I've been saddened with the passing of so many programs. It doesn't even have a Mickey focus anymore. Open the vault for crying out loud.

How can we contact Disney to let them know the BIG mistake they have made? My son walked away from playhouse disney for the first time today telling me they don't like him because they won't put his favorite shows back on again! Shame on Disney! What an awful change!

I completely agree with Desperate Mom (post #9). I'd like to contact them to complain. Anyone know who to call or have contact info?? If they don't change I will switch to another channel. We watch in the morning before leaving for work - keeps my little one occupied so I can get ready. Didn't appreciate my 3 year old seeing a commercial for the Replacements where someone called someone else a "Loser"!

I'm so upset! I can't believe this! I can't imagine the mornings without Johnny :'(

I wish there was a way to show Disney how we feel! I'd sign anything! This is outrageous!
