So about those internet commenters Tina Fey mentioned... - VIDEO

tina fey globes 2009The Golden Globes has always been my favorite awards show. the stripped-down presentation and the giant bottles of champagne on the tables make for a decidedly non-tedious and drunken affair. Plus, the Hollywood Foreign Press can only be taken so seriously, which makes for some delightful acceptance speeches. My favorite from last night was probably Tina Fey's speech for her Best Actress in a Comedy win.

It was short, sweet, to the point, and most importantly, it was funny. When Fey called out the internet commenters who have given her grief over the past year, I, like most people assumed she was making up screennames for effect. Well, it turns out that "Dianefan" and "BabsonLacrosse" are actually real people who had not-too-nice things to say about the erstwhile 30 Rock star and Sarah Palin impersonator.

Gawker dug up the comments to which Fey was referring on the LA Times Envelope awards site. While the comments were definitely not flattering, "Tina Fey was simply like the pimple on my face - just there I think that the key issue here is the fact that when Tina is at her best, she's just not that great," I've seen far worse on the internet (some of which have probably been directed at me from some of the commenters on this site!). If Tina Fey really wants to get her head out of the clouds, she needs to get off of the LA Times site and into the nitty-gritty of the internet.

But, hey. Everyone's a winner in this situation. Some anonymous internet commenters get a dose of fame, the Golden Globe audience gets a funny speech, and at the end of the day, Tina Fey has yet another award to add to her mantel. Not too shabby for a pimple.

Check out Fey's now-infamous speech below.

Those internet posters were from Goldderby, which is probably my favorite forum to read on-line. A lot of industry insiders post on there, and the forumers compose better tv and movie reviews than most of the print critics do. They really know their stuff. They even debate what tapes particular actors should submit for certain awards shows, and it's known that some actors have checked out the posters' thoughts on there before choosing their submissions.

Guess some folks don't remember Bruce Willis trolling internet message board before Live Free came out? Kevin Smith, obviously, loves the boards.

Aw come on the Internet loves her. I guess she simply took a shot at people who take people on the net seriously.

If I was as successful as Fey I certainly wouldn't be looking at some message boards to see what people think of me, but the speech was all in good fun.

Yeah, cause her speech was so serious!

Some people need to get a sense of humor and I am not talking about Fey.
