Law and Order: CI premiere delayed - yet again

by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 21st 2009 6:09PM
Jeff GoldblumWe told you way back in October that Law and Order: CI, which was supposed to start up again in November, had been pushed back until early 2009. Now it has been pushed back even further, to the summer.

No word on what the hold up is this time (nor was there any explanation last time). If you've forgotten the news from several months ago, Chris Noth has been replaced by Jeff Goldblum. He'll be the lead in eight of this season's episodes while veteran star Vincent D'Onofrio will star in the other eight. It's always nice to share.

I wonder how long fans will wait before they say to themselves, "oh, is that show still on?" This is frustrating, because the show had become less ripped-from-the-headlines-ish than its parent show and more interesting.

Stay tuned with TV Squad for more Law and Order: CI info. Maybe in June we'll announce that it has been delayed until the next Presidential Inauguration.

Vincent D'onofrio is pure Genius as an actor!! He is a treat, to be on television, because he is A-1 Steak Sauce, all the way! Thank you Vincent!

April 19!!!

Why not keep Goren and Eames as the sole detectives since they have a whole year to film. Let Vince take as much time as he needs to film so he won't get exhausted.

Amen to that, who cares if he's 400 pounds? Give us the episodes already, we all watch the ones with Vin over the alternating shows anyways. They say it's supposed to start airing this Spring, we'll see...hopefully.

What the hell? I don't care if Vince is 400 pounds and has to get around on a rascal, Goren is the best cop character ever and Eames is the perfect counter. Who cares if Goldblums episodes suck? Most of Noth's episodes sucked too, he couldn't even keep a partner. I'm sick of reruns, Burn Notice is unwatchable, SVU is even getting a little cheesy and as far as 24? How many crap days can one guy have already? Played out. Well hell if they never air them I hope there's somewhere we can go and see the episodes they actually finished. Someone leak this stuff on YouTube already! FUSA!

I read the same thing about Jeff Goldblum's 2 episodes being unusable so it just goes to show you that maybe they can't find an actor to counter Vin's caliber against his episodes. Maybe they just can't find the right formula for Goldblum that is workable and it's not his fault. Who the hell cares if Vin has put on some weight? Does that mean he can't still act? Hell, no. He certainly turned in a fine performance having gained 70 pounds for "Full Metal Jacket" and no one complained about that. He shows more emotion through his eyes than any other actor has in their little pinky and additional weight couldn't touch that. We are so hung up on what people look like that sometimes I wish we were all rendered blind so that we could experience the true essence of each other as human beings, it sickens me.

I am so disappointed, again. As a major D'Onofrio fan, not only are the delays upsetting but the comments made about one of the best actors are unfair. I used to say society made it o.k. for a man to be big but not a woman (remember Delta Burke?), but now I see that shallowness knows no limits. In Vincent's film career, his weight has went up and down, but he's always been a good actor and has a marvelously handsome face (you can be thin and unattractive, you know) So lay off the poor guy. And USA, get on the ball and start showing some new episodes!

Donofrio's not the problem: his episodes are almost done.

Apparently, Goldblum's are terrible--I'm not sure if it's him or a writing/character issue--and they can't even use what they have. They just had a piece on Fox News about it. USA wants to air all 16 together, so they won't air any until they finish Goldblum's.

Are you kidding me? How long are we supposed to wait and then will we be told that the series is cancelled with no type of resolution with the storylines? If Vin is involved with a movie or some other project just tell us, we get that he does other things. I cannot believe that a good show with a great following would be shelved until the summer, it just doesn't make any sense. What kind of marketing do the suits think this is going to accomplish? It's going to turn those who are loyal to the show away because of the old adage "out of sight, out of mind". Why can't they just run the shows that are already in the can and maybe take a hiatus until more can be produced so we at least can be spared a long wait? Most people will be on vacation or not viewing tv during the summer and the ratings are going to suffer so how does that help? I have applauded the USA network for picking up the show in the first place but now I am questioning their most recent decisions to delay its premiere. Am I a little incensed, why yes, I am.

I want my favorite cop show back, dammit. I can only console myself with 24 and Burn Notice mayhem for so long. Then I need some Law and Order. D'Onofrio style.

I'm looking at a serious six month pout here.
