America's Got Talent seeking new host

America's Got Talent
Back at the very end of August, it was announced that NBC's America's Got Talent was renewed for a fourth season. When I wrote about this renewal, I included a few ideas to revamp the series because even if AGT is one of the most popular summer shows, it doesn't mean we like everything about it!

Let's go down memory lane and remind ourselves of the first suggestion I wrote in that post:
  • Change the host. Jerry Springer reads the teleprompter way too much. Also, his interactions with the contestants are sometimes painful to watch because Springer doesn't know what to tell them or how to act around them.
Could it be that the show's Powers That Be read my post? (Please don't burst my bubble here and let me think for a few seconds that I actually played a part in making my suggestion come true.) AOL announces today that Jerry Springer is leaving AGT!

According to the AOL article, Springer claims he is not returning as the host of the "greatest show in the world" (his words) due to other commitments such as his show and a stage role. Don't adjust your computer monitor, you read right: stage role. The story doesn't say what that gig entails. A revival of "Jerry Springer: The Opera," maybe?

It wouldn't surprise me if the show's people also played a part in Springer's decisions because I know I'm not the only blogger and viewer out there who was getting extremely tired of Jerry's hosting.

The network has yet to announce who'll replace Jerry as host. Who do you think would make the best host for the show? Could they even think of making the Hoff be the host of the show?

Hey, they picked a new host for the show already! It's been confirmed that Nick Cannon is the new host of America's Got Talent...

I LOVED Jerry hosting...he is compassionate and funny and looked like he really cared. They should have gotten rid of Hasselhoff - he seemed like a poser to me. I am sad that Jerry will not be there this season. JERRY JERRY JERRY

I've never understood why they feel the need for a host in the first place... they just need an announcer, and not necessarily even the same one each week, for that matter -- it could change all the time, and include previous seasons' contestants, people who need to plug their show, etc... and just let them announce the acts, and that's it!

I immediately thought the Hoff would be a good host but then who would take his place as a judge?

Another suggestion I made back in August to help refreshen the show was to change a judge or add a fourth judge so that we would get new comments coming from the panel. If the Hoff is made host, then it allows the show to cast for a new judge. If you recall, Brandi was a judge in season 1 and was replaced by Sharon.

Brian Dunkleman. He wasn't such a great host so I'm not sure I would want him take over for AGT.
