Nip/Tuck: Manny Skerritt

(S05E19) "Namaste home at night and play with that thing, oh yeah!" - Nurse Linda
I clearly don't have the same set of skills as Manny Skerritt or else I wouldn't own a TV and would therefore have never seen this episode of Nip/Tuck. As this week's patient-du-jour, Manny "I've got a Tyrannosaurus prick" Skerritt reminded me of how funny this show can actually be. The guy that got breast implants in season two comes to mind. However, if there's one lesson to learn from Manny's "addiction," it's that just because it feels good doesn't make it right.
Take Christian for instance. He knew that Jenna needed the collagen injections if she was going to be picked up by a kiddie modeling agency, but he also knew it was sick and twisted to give infants plump lips, chubby cheeks, and smooth foreheads. That being said, was it really that much a surprise that he gave Jenna the injections anyway? Yes, Kimber started it and Christian was forced to clean up the mess she made of her own daughter's lips, but he still did it.
And what about Sean? Well, he knows damn well what the repercussions of sleeping with co-workers can be. Look at Christian and Liz. And don't forget the awkwardness that stemmed from Sean hitting on Grace in season one. However, Dr. Teddy Rowe isn't your typical co-worker. Katee Sackhoff played the part of the free-spirited anesthesiologist perfectly and her "do whatever you want to do" mentality reminded me a lot of the pep talks that Rachel Ben Natan gave Matt earlier in the season.
However, Sean needs Teddy right now. Nothing has gone right for him lately and some casual sex and Harley riding are exactly what's required to make him the "fun one" again. I think Sackhoff is only around for the rest of this season though. That means only three episodes left and if we know one thing about Sean, it's that he gets attached to people. It's fun now, and yes I'm sure it feels good, but he could end up getting hurt.
A few more thoughts--
- Great to see Bradley Cooper again. Aiden Stone is one of the best minor characters this show has ever had. The "Lifetime movie" scenes with him playing Sean and Morgan Fairchild playing Colleen Rose were campy as hell, but it sure was funny. Oh and speaking of Colleen, I loved the little refresher we got in the "previously on" segment. It was even better than the one that preceded the mid-season premiere.
- After everything that happened last week, there was no mention of Raj. I thought that was odd.
As I mentioned, there's only three more episodes left this season and based on next week's preview, it looks like Christian has plans to do something most people never thought they'd see. Could make for an interesting finale.
