The Battlestar Galactica finale will run three hours

battlestar galactica sci fi starbuck leeDo you realize there are only three episodes of Battlestar Galactica left until the series finale airs? It's true. It's almost time to say goodbye to Adama, Starbuck and the toasters. Hopefully, we'll get some answers to all the big questions before we move on to Caprica.

Our buddies at SyFy Portal are reporting that the BSG finale will be three hours long and split into two parts. Sci Fi Channel plans to air the first hour-long part of the finale, titled "Daybreak," in the show's normal 10 p.m. timeslot on March 13. The network will air the two final hours on March 20. The March 13 hour will be repeated before 8 p.m. on March 20 for those who want to watch all three hours straight through.

So, basically the three-hour finale will consist of three episodes that pick up right where the last one leaves off? That's fine with me. I'm glad Ron Moore and Sci Fi aren't trying to cram the series' finale into one hour. A series full of unanswered questions like this needs to devote more time to its final act than a regular running time would allow. Still, judging by the last episode, it sure feels like they're rushing to the end. Anders' sudden memory return and Cavil's long exposition-heavy monologue scenes didn't really wow me. I hope we get more "showing" and less "telling" in the next episode.

That's cool ... the "mini-series" which launched the show is also 3 hours. I don't mind the "telling," as there is still plenty of telling left to do. I'm confident something important will happen that will work as the "showing."
