Echo gets beaten by two Germans

by Brad Trechak, posted Mar 10th 2009 10:44AM
DollhouseDollhouse continues it's downward slide in the Friday ratings, with under 4 million viewers this past Friday. You know what irks me the most? That it was beaten severely in the ratings by a 20/20 special on Siegfried and Roy.

I can't believe that a decent show (not great, but decent... I'm still giving it time) was beaten by two flamboyant German-Americans who are currently best known by having one of them mauled by a tiger onstage. Did they show actual footage of that? If so, then I can understand why the special was such a ratings bonanza.

Granted, we're not at episode six yet, which Joss promises a boost in the storyline and less studio interference. Still, it's starting from a pretty low ebb. You know that cogitative point in which you're certain something is going to fail but it hasn't quite gotten there yet? That's how I feel about Dollhouse right now, despite watching it every week in hopes of the opposite.

What a ridiculous argument, almost like the show itself. If "two germans" are more interesting than Echo why shouldn't they get higher viewership? Dollhouse is not very good and Eliza was a poor choice. That's it. It's not a german conspiracy.

So, I really liked this past episode. It was my favorite episode so far. Really looking forward to the next Joss-penned ep..

Maybe like the premise of this show the viewers had their memories erased and forgot to watch the following weeks....

It wasn't beaten by Germans, it was beaten by 20/20. Did you see that Appalachian episode a few weeks back? Quality work. Unlike Dollhouse.

And here I was hoping the title was an SM reference and that I missed the promos for next week's episode.

Thanks for getting my hopes up Brad...

T:SCC is doing better than Dollhouse, and I could see it getting a third season. I also predict Dollhouse will be pulled before it even gets to episode #13.

I'm sorry, but no. Simply: no. T:TSCC has sunken so low in the important numbers, that it is even in danger of being pulled without airing its remaining episodes... http://bit.ly/12Nopg

I really like T:TSCC and have watched it from the beginning, but, short of a miracle, there is no way that there will be a third season, I'm sorry.

In A World (XBL)

Maybe in episode six Echo can get plastic surgery (a new face to go along with her new personality) and be played thereafter by Sarah Michelle Gellar.

I dunno, maybe the show DOES have bad writing, but Dushku's terrible acting isn't helping things either. Get her off that show!

The ratings are not telling us much on this show. Most people are recording it or getting it from iTunes. This is making it look much less popular than it actually is.

You might be right, but still, the only thing that keeps a show on the air is good numbers in the 18-49 demo... Advertisers don't generally care about how many people buy the show from iTunes or DVR it... It's the 18-49Live(maybe +SD) that counts when they decide to advertise or not.
These are the cold, hard facts and they tell you nothing about the quality of a show, just that not enough people are watching it...
Looking at the recent numbers, it's quite clear that 'T:TSCC' will end after season two and that, if there isn't any major improvement in the numbers, 'Dollhouse' will end after 13 episodes as well...
With 'Life' as good as gone and 'Chuck' on the bubble (at best), it doesn't look good for some of my favourite shows... :-(

I think 'Dollhouse' and 'T:TSCC' took a serious hit in the ratings because a sizable portion of their audience was out seeing 'Watchmen'.

I agree, but after a few weeks of horrible ratings, those two shows are clearly past the point of excuses. This mystical "Episode Six" of Dollhouse and the final run of T:TSCC really has to be good to draw in better numbers to have any chance of survival for another season.

Any news on ratings for Terminator or is it so bad that I just shouldn't know?

Huh. I disagree with the comments. I like this show a lot. It's not perfect and it will benefit from a season's worth of tinkering, but I find the overarching storyline compelling.
