Wow...I went to comments to blast the people who were getting ready to contine to bash Leno and see all the reasoned, well thought out, UPLIFTING comments. Yeah!

Sure, I am *not* a Leno fan (though I wouldn't mind seeing a stand-up show of his, as I liked all his old visits to Letterman back in the day pre-Tonight Show mess). I think Jay's show is only slightly better than Carson Daly.

HOWEVER, what he's doing is great. And not only is he putting on a free arena show, but he's covering the parking and the food/refreshments (courtesy of Pepsi). It's good PR, sure, but it's also a classy move. I may not find Leno's show very entertaining or funny, but I do think he's a pretty stand-up guy.

You can be snarky all you want, but when someone calls u bull$h*t, you lost it buddy and you just been called Bull$h*t. He is a genuine hardworker and does a great stand up.
So I am going to repeat a wonderful concept which u can read about it, called Man in the Arena. Why dont u give it a try. Google it if you dont know what that means.

I'm not a huge Leno fan either, Brad... but I think it's rather trashy for you to be so negative about this. I applaud this move by Mr. Leno.

That said, I can't wait for Conan to take over The Tonight Show in June. Bring on the Cone Zone!

I have to agree with most of the posters here. We get that the snobs don't like Leno but to freaking crap on him for trying to do a solid for people who are hurting? That's just pathetic.

As for people lying and saying that they're unemployed just to go... not only does this expose you're dismally cynical view on humanity but it's down right insulting to the people who live in these economically depressed areas... where in some cases 1 in 5 people are unemployed are facing unemployment. I imagine that you're rather callous elitist rhetoric goes over real well by the people and communities hurt by this recession.

Since nobody asked, allow me to share my theory of why Leno steadily outrates Letterman. I bring to this subject complete objectivity: I don't care for either of them. That established, here's the theory: Leno enjoys what he's doing, while Letterman doesn't. Think about it: Leno comes out every night, goes right up to the crowd, presses the flesh, just like your local alderman at an election eve rally. Jay is your jovial uncle, always ready with a quip. Compare with Letterman, who trudges out night after night with an air of "Oh God, let's get this over with!" Dave gripes, scowls, mutters, gets people's names wrong - he hates being on and can't wait to get out. The audience picks up on these things: they know that Jay has to be forced to take time off, while Dave sticks a rerun on as often as he can get away with it. It's not the quality of the jokes either; take the effort to compare, and you'll see that they're practically identical from one night to the next - Jay and Dave (and for that matter Conan and Jimmy and Jimmy) could swap lines back and forth and nobody would ever know unless they looked. I know that Dave's crakiness is what his fans love about him; there just aren't as many of them as they believe there are. For me, the last really good late-night talkers were Tom Snyder and Bob Costas. Get talkers like them on, and maybe I'll stop looking for 45-year-old UNTOUCHABLES repeats every night.

What's up with all these moronic posts at Tvsquad today? I don't like to do name calling but another idiot on this site was ranting that GM is stupid because it stopped funding some artsy PBS guy. Now this guy is ranting at Leno for trying to spread a laugh to a few unemployed folks.

Yeah too bad you like Letterman. Get over yourself. America like Leno. Now please go to your corner and cry.
