What to Watch Tuesday, March 17

by Kim Potts, posted Mar 17th 2009 5:00AM
Law & Order SVU'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit'
(10PM, NBC)
She's won multiple Emmys and Golden Globes for comedy, but the Carol Burnett who pops up in tonight's 'SVU' is much more serious ... deadly serious, in fact.

When Benson and Stabler show up to investigate a murder, they stumble upon a double homicide in a neighboring apartment. One of the victims was employed as a stripper at a club owned by Birdie Sulloway (Burnett), a sweet little former Rockette who runs the joint with her nephew Chet (guest Matthew Lillard).

But when the main suspect in the murders also turns up dead, the investigation begins to point back to Chet and Birdie, who isn't nearly as sweet – and maybe not as innocent – as she would have the police believe.

'Without a Trace'

(10PM, CBS)
That Jack/Sam/Brian triangle? Big happenings tonight.

'The Real Housewives of New York City'
(10PM, Bravo)
LuAnn has been causing more tension this season than Alex and Simon, and that's only going to continue, as Bethenny and Ramona dish about the Countess in the Hamptons, before Bethenny has it out with LuAnn during a lunch meeting.

'Reaper'

(8PM, The CW)
How does a slacker like Sock manage to double his salary at the Work Bench? It's all thanks to a clever little ruse that comes to an end when Andi busts him. Meanwhile, Sam has to go toe-to-toe with a 1950s boxer, as the only way to get the guy back to Hell is for Sam to knock him out.

'Wreckreation Nation'

(10PM, Discovery)
Host Dave Mordal visits an adult dodgeball league in Denver, where co-ed teams with names like Head Shot, The Care Bears and Protect Your Balls duke it out to relive the sports glory of fourth grade recess.

'The Mentalist'

(9PM, CBS)
When Jane is temporarily blinded in an explosion, he has to rely on his other senses to help him investigate the murder of a financial adviser. If that doesn't work, and as long as he has a mediocre singing voice, he could always become a finalist on 'American Idol.' Yeah, that's right, we went there.

Also on tonight:
- 'Dancing With the Stars: Results' (9PM, ABC)
- 'Trust Me' (9PM, TNT)

What's on tomorrow: 'Better Off Ted,' 'Scrubs' and more
