Al Trautwig knows more about Lost than you do - VIDEOS

Al TrautwigIf you're a sports fan, then you definitely have heard Al Trautwig's distinctive voice. Whether he's anchoring tennis coverage during the US Open or hosting the pregame show for the Knicks on MSG, it really doesn't matter what the guy is talking about - you can't help but pay attention to him. I'm a diehard Celtics fan, absolutely despise the Knicks, and still tune in for Trautwig's Knicks pre-game show. The guy is good.

For people that aren't huge sports fans, you'll probably remember Trautwig for his coverage during this past summer's Olympics. NBC used him for tons of stuff, including all of Michael Phelps' swimming events their gymnastics coverage.

Anyway, when he isn't calling a game, Al Trautwig is a huge Lost junkie. Apparently someone at MSG Network caught on and now you can see all of Al's theories in a weekly video podcast.

For a guy that you wouldn't expect to have any clue about what's going on in the world of Lost, I've gotta say - Trautwig makes a lot of sense. Part recap and part theories, Al's voice (which I already mentioned) is what really makes the videos so fun to watch. Haven't you always wanted to hear Lost recounted to you as if it were a championship NBA game?

Here's Al's take on a Pierre Chang DHARMA video:

And here's his take on last week's episode "Namaste":

Amazing! Trautwig recaps a show called Lost and he also narrated a 2001 reality show called Lost. Could this be a clue?

Probably not.

Does he have a video commenting on the most recent episode? All I see is a bunch of orientation video crap.

Al, you said Sun was pregnant on flight 815; it was Claire. Sun became pregnant on the island. I do think you merely misspoke, however.

But you were off a bit about Frank, I believe. When we first see him he's at home watching the news about the divers discovering the wreckage of 815. He's agitated for two reasons -- he was meant to pilot that flight, and he knows the dead pilot is not the man who replaced him. Although you're on point that, as he is an exceptional pilot, this might be why Widmore lures him into the game... but Frank (seemingly) joins the crew of his own volition.

True, we have not seen his backstory (yet), specifically how he comes to be on the freighter, but we know two things:
1. His curiosity is piqued by the reported discovery and the coincidence (plan?) that kept him away from that fateful flight; he appears to have jumped into action, calling the hotline to report what he knows;
2. He takes the job on the freighter with his own agenda -- he tells Michael/Kevin Johnson his theory and that Widmore believes him -- and appears to be the only one on the ship whose only goal is to find the survivors, uncover the mystery, and help them.

To me, this suggests that Lapidus has joined the team due to his own actions and not because Widmore has sought him out for his mad piloting skills. Again, I agree he may be another unknowing pawn played by Widmore, purposefully drawn into the game... but I believe to this point our limited information suggests Frank's own curiosity-cum-agenda led him to sign up for the mission.

Still, I like your theory that Kate is now pregnant, that works for me.

(BTW, this is all new to me. I am hardly a fan boy and have never been so captivated by a crafted mythology, so much so that I am compelled to comment on it especially.... damn it!)

Thanks for your concise insights, they're quite refreshing.

Your fast friend,

debkha

Dan Hicks did swimming. Al did gymnastics. Guess you don't know his voice that well.

For some reason those videos only play an ad for a credit union and then won't go any further.

Not cool.

The video worked for me on Internet Explorer, but not Firefox. Maybe it works better if you view them from the MSG site, which Jon linked to.
