Four more seasons of drinking, nudity and irresponsibility coming to MTV

The Real WorldA few years ago, it looked like The Real World was on its last legs, didn't it? It seemed like people had other reality shows to watch, and it wouldn't have shocked anyone if MTV got rid of it because it had been on since the early 90s. But there has been a bit of resurgence with the Brooklyn season, and MTV wants more more more. The network has renewed the Bunim-Murray show for four more seasons. Not one, not two, not three, but four.

The show used to be must-see TV for me, at least in the L.A. and San Francisco seasons (seasons 2 and 3). Sure, you could say I'm not into anymore because I'm a lot older now and it's not for people my age, but I also think that the show got worse because it wasn't as "real" anymore. The young people became media savvy and went on to the show to get famous and that's it.

When (and if) The Real World finally ends, our grandchildren will be parents, and their kids will be watching Real World: Moon, the seven roommates arguing about who put their fingers in the space peanut butter and who drank all the Tang, going to the Daughtry Farewell Concert Tour, and having sex while floating in the air.

This season was good...but I can't stand to think about another 4 seasons of these lab-created "pretty people with problems" living the life in exotic and hip locations...and even worse, the parasites they call "veterans" who show up year after year for the challenges...not to mention the so-called "regular" people they found for the last few challenge seasons that have become just as annoying as the CT/Tonya/Dereks of the world..

Yes its true real world has had some really stupid people doing really stupid things, but i feel like it has also brought us some really touching moments, like this very season, when Ryan found out hes getting called back to active duty, or when we watched danny find out that his mother died, or when we got to see joey deal with his drug and alcohol addiction last year. so if they keep providing moments like that i think they can still be relevant.

i kinda love the real world, but its the challenges that are the best thing, just wish that they would do some road rules or another fresh meat for people who arent real world.

I was sick a few weeks ago and got sucked into a Real World marathon while convalescing on Sunday afternoon. That show is as addictive as ever.

I think that after four more seasons, they're going to end The Real World. I think that they have a 20-year contract with MTV and want to live up to it. Started in 1992, shut it down and walk away in 2012! I don't think you'll see anybody of past seasons reuniting--MTV is more of a thinking ahead, not looking back nostalgically kind of network.

There is no 20 year contract. It gets renewed just like every other show.
