David Letterman on the last episode of The Jon Stewart Show - VIDEO

I loved "The Jon Stewart Show" when it was in syndication (in or around '94, I think). Thought it was such a great show, lots of fun, and I was really bummed when it got canceled. I did not know what exactly would become of Mr. Stewart's career following that unfortunate setback but am so glad he was able to land so solidly on his feet in the end.

For the record, Stewart at one time had a deal with Worldwide Pants. It was rumored that he would take the Late Late Show when Tom Snyder retired. I don't recall the exact timing (i.e. if Craig Kilborn got the gig or if Comedy Central made an offer first), but the rest is history.

My point is that there has always been a mutual admiration between Letterman and Stewart -- to the point that Letterman seemed to have "tapped him" as a possible successor.

Wish we could see the tape of Letterman's mornign show, I LOVED that show! The bright light in this stay-at-home mom's day! Much, much better than Sesame Street!
