Anyone else looking forward to season two of Eastbound & Down?

Eastbound Down HBOI didn't expect to be charmed by a show about a dude who snorts blow off a loaded rifle.

HBO's Eastbound & Down turned out to be my favorite new comedy of the year. The show, produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, seemed like a one-note joke at first. It stars Danny McBride as Kenny Powers, a deluded and self-obsessed former baseball star forced to move back to his hometown and work as a middle school gym coach.

Surprisingly, this thing got funnier and more addictive with every episode. Danny McBride is great as the extremely vulgar Kenny Powers, and the show has a lot more going for it than most of Ferrell and McKay's juvenile big screen comedies.

Eastbound & Down
had an abbreviated first season – only six episodes – but HBO just renewed it for a second season.

I thought we'd seen the last of Kenny Powers after episode six. Eastbound & Down wasn't exactly a ratings success. The series started the season with only 671,000 viewers and never even reached a million. But the Hollywood Reporter says the show grew steadily throughout its run, and HBO's Michael Lombardo said it "sparked a loyal and enthusiastic following."

I guess that's all it takes to get a good show renewed on HBO. It's a shame the broadcast networks can't use the same model.

Season two is expected to premiere in 2010. Are you pumped for more Powers?

Listen up you beautiful bitch, I'm about to fuck you up with some truth.. that restaurant scene in chapter 6 was one of the most perfectly written scenes ever.

Agreed, it got better as it went. So why not a second season? But, less Ferrell and more Craig Robinson!

The show definitely improved throughout the first six episodes. Looking forward to it.

I completely agree. Funnier every episode and wonderfully written. This now makes up for a loss of Lucky Louie but not for the loss of Deadwood.
