When we last left our castaways on Lost, Ben had just woken up and seen that Locke was sitting next to his bed. Locke obviously has a ton of questions for Mr. Linus, such as "why did you strangle me to death," and Ben had a look of surprise on his face.

So fans are wondering if Ben is shocked to find out that Locke is alive (because he was, you know, dead) or if Ben killed Locke knowing that he would come back to life some day (I just realized how crazy that sentence must sound to people who don't watch the show). Well, after the jump is a sneak peek at tonight's new episode, courtesy of Kristin over at E!

I don't think coming back to the island is what he's being judged for. What's there to judge? He did it. He's back. Tadaaah.

I think "the rules" have to do with Ben Linus and Charles Widmore not being allowed to kill each other or each others' family. That's the only thing that makes sense in the context in which they've discussed/mentioned "the rules." Widmore killed Ben's daughter (even though Alex wasn't actually his biological daughter) and it seems as though Ben has killed Penny, Charles Widmore's (actual) daughter. So, they both broke the rules assuming it applies to adopted children.

"Whoever moves the island can never come back," is, I think, what Ben said before he turned the magic wheel.

This clip just reminds me how much I love this show.

I think he "broke the rules" by coming back, not by killing Penny. Last season he said once you leave the island by spinning the wheel, you can never come back.

If Ben did indeed murder Penny Widmore on her ship, which is how I assume Ben "broke the rules" .... why would he then do something like murder Locke in cold blood? I mean, it seems like he's worried about being "judged" (even though he is doing so voluntarily). And while killing Locke may not be against "the rules"... whatever the rules may be... it still seems like "relevant conduct" - as we lawyers would say - in terms of calculating the appropriate punishment (under the federal sentencing guidelines).

I don't think the island/monster would look well upon Ben murdering Locke, regardless of which "rules" we're talking about.

That being said, I hope Ben doesn't die. He's probably my favorite character (even though he's just doing a kevin spacey impersonation).
