Dancing with the Stars: Week 6 Results

by Michael Pascua, posted Apr 15th 2009 12:32AM
Melissa Rycroft on Dancing with the Stars(S08E11) With no dance off, the results show lost most of my motivation. The fluff factor of the cheesy dances was in high effect. The episode was surprisingly sexual: Samantha couldn't keep a straight face interviewing Lawrence about Edyta's lack of clothes, Chuck said some double entendre involving Bruno, Shawn and Melissa considered putting their partners in very little clothing, and Steve-O used the word "Man-struate."

Luckily for America, the show created one of the best drinking games. It has nothing to do with scores, clothes, or Samantha Harris saying something stupid. More information after the jump.

EncoreLil Kim & Derek – How did Lil Kim and Derek get the encore twice in a row? Even with the high points, it wasn't a jive. I appreciated it more the second time around. It had to be Derek's non-Elvis hair.

West Side Story
America – I'm not sure why we're getting Broadway performances. Where are my child dancers? The one positive is that it's well lip-synced. The sad part is that it's totally unnecessary and most of the dancing is silly. As a New Yorker, I understand that Broadway hasn't been doing well; I'm still not convinced to go after watching the performance.

Rascal FlattsGoodbye – Once in a while a guest performer walks in with a pretty slow song and the professionals overdo it. This was the case for Tony and Julianne. They attempted several lifts that were stunning and in quick succession of each other. I loved the one lift sequence where Tony basically tossed her over his shoulder. I was so afraid that Julianne's dress would catch Tony's head and she'd fall right over. That's the definition of trust right there.

Macy's Stars of Dance
Stuff Like That There - I was hoping to see the weird-faced Robin Antin, but it was Lindsey Allen who choreographed the dance. The performance is cabaret with a mix of burlesque. Any performance gains from the hula hoop. It's a little sad that the performance outperformed West Side Story.

Rascal FlattsRevolution – Taking on a Beatles classic is always questionable; trying it on a dance show is wrong. I'm a little surprised by the return of Artem as one of the dancers. ABC has to be planting a seed in America's head. I could see him become the replacement of Maks if he and Karina go on a long honeymoon. The rest of the dancing is good, but I can't get past the flags that look Chinese.

The Body Language Drinking Game – Here's the best part of the night. We have an analyst who points out several body language ticks. Here's the drinking game: each time you see the tick, take a drink. Here are the ticks: Lil Kim keeping her eyes wide and mouth open, Shawn shrugging, Ty holding on to Chelsie, Melissa making facial expressions or putting her hand over the stomach, Chuck gritting his teeth, Gilles looking up to God, Lawrence putting his arms behind his back and puffing his chest up, Steve-O putting his hand on his hip or cocking his head. Bonus drink if Lawrence or Chuck look up, then down during elimination.

Right after the little clip, Steve-O cocks his head, Ty holds on to Chelsie, Gilles looks to the heavens, and Chuck has tension on his face. It was really obvious by the end that Steve-O and Lacey were eliminated. Next week: a 60s dance that doesn't count for points. We get the interesting news that the stars are choosing the costume designs for next week. Here's to hoping for little to no clothes on everyone.

Ha ha @ manstruate. I'll miss Steve-O and his determination.
