Private Practice: Yours, Mine & Ours (season finale)

Private Practice
(S02E22) "You have my baby and I want it back." - Katie

Those of us who keep up with show spoilers were warned that this episode would be a little crazy. But what we've got instead was a whole lot of crazy and some poor writing. To me, the season finale of Private Practice felt like it was rushed way too much. I get that season finale must be action packed and end with cliffhangers, especially when the series has been renewed, but there is a limit, no?

The switching embryos storyline could have been dropped from this episode and saved for another one next season. This would have allowed for the other storylines to get more air time. The switching of embryos may have added extra drama to Dell's storyline but was nothing compared to the the reappearance of his messed-up ex asking for money in exchange for their daughter. I hope Dell doesn't give her the money and gets a lawyer asap so he can get full legal custody of his daughter. If he gives her the money, this means that all the legal issues between them will not be resolved. And who knows, maybe his ex will get sober once again and come back to get their daughter.

Am I the only one who doesn't care about the Addison/Noah storyline? I so don't care that I have nothing to say about it. Have an opinion on the subject, share it with us in comments below.

Someone finally told Charlotte that she doesn't have a heart. Okay, she does have one but it must be made of stone or ice or something similar. Even if Charlotte was fired from running the practice so that Naomi could take charge, I doubt it's the last time we've seen both of them. Charlotte could still interact with the other characters in the hospital scenes and when with Cooper. As for Naomi, she'll be in the same building, is still BFFs with Addison and Sam loves her, so it's certain we'll see her next season even if she isn't part of Oceanside anymore.

Now, for the real crazy, aka Katie. That woman needs to go to the psych ward or something. Not only did she stop taking her meds (did she ever take them), but she took the time to thoroughly research what surgical equipment she needed to perform her wacko job on Violet so to get her baby. The "You know no matter where I cut you, you won't survive?" line was chilling. I can't imagine what must be going through Violet's mind as she sees Katie prepare to cut her belly and maybe kill her in the process.... Wow! I doubt that the show will kill off Violet but for sure she'll be pretty messed up if one of the guys doesn't arrive before Katie does too much damage.

So it looks like Violet choose Pete. But is he the father? Even if the show tried to pack this episode with action and cliffhangers, that's about the only question we will really be thinking over the summer hiatus.

What did you think of PP's season finale? Was it too crazy? Are you looking forward to next season? What do you think will happen next for each characters? Share your thoughts and theories in comments below.

Totally over the Addison/Noah thing. Why can't they ever let the main characters have a healthy relationship? I am getting pretty over the Greys stuff too.
Not sure I will be back to watch either of them in the fall.

OMG everyone in this show are immature idiots! Seriously, I know a therapist who is more screwed up than her patients, but this show goes over the top! If I have to watch one more action decided by another patient's decisions...emotionality and no real focus on a goal...and seriously, Addision is a screwed up home-wrecker who lives by the hole between her legs! GOD seriously, not watching another episode...

I love PP. I must say I can't wait until next season. The SF was great! I HATE the ADDI/NOAH storyline, it just makes her seem SOOO desperate! I don't feel the least bit sad for her dilema, once she found out he was her patient's hubby-it should have been cut! But that is too much like right! Anyway, the switching embros was out of place for me. I understand making an out for Naomi and giving Dell presence, but they could have developed that more into a great show on its own! Also, if Dell gives his daughter back to that crack-head, he might need to be checked himself! I am sooo happy that Violet chose Pete, I hope they make it! I'd like to see Sam and Naomi try to get it together, and stop making her look like a whore-going after all her exes friends that is so high school! Charlotte got what she deserved! But I really don't think she deserves a good man like Cooper! The ice-queen needs to be de-throned! Well we shall see what happens next!

I thought Private Practice had a great season, and I was wishy-washy on it until the cross-over episode with Grey's Anatomy which sucked me right back in. I am glad that the show's writers finally did something so daring with the plot. The danger and drama of GA is what makes me love it and now finally they raised the stakes for PP too. It's television, I want it to be dramatic and interesting! I do like the Addison story line, however I think she is falling subject to the same fault as Meredith Grey, which is that the supporting characters are stealing the spotlight with their captivating story lines. I will most DEF be tuning in for Season 3, they left me hanging, I am on the hook!!

Ay caramba! This finale was very off-putting.

The whole thing with Violet and the crazylady was just a pukefest, if they kill off V like that I'm not watching the show anymore. Honestly, just gross.

Addison + Noah = SNORE. Why do they keep hooking her up with unattractive emotionally stunted losers?

Somebody needs to bitchslap Naomi and get her off her self-righteous pitypot. That girl is just out of control stupid.

Cooper + Charlotte = the only thing worth watching. I love seeing Charlotte's abrasiveness toughen up p-whipped Cooper, and I love seeing Cooper's softness thawing out Miss IronBritches.

Next season better have new writers, this bunch is just phoning it in.

I'm going with the minority to say that this was an excellent season finale. I found most of the PP season to be BOR-ING. But the storyline with Violet in the finale was riveting. Disturbing. I actually had nightmares. (Sorry if that makes me a dork but I'm a mother and empathized too much with Violet.) I believe that good TV should be disturbing so PP is now back in my good graces.

Having said that, the Noah-Addison storyline has got to go. I just don't care about these two and what happens. Boring, boring boring.

I'll be watching in September to see how it all turns out. And, yeah, Violet will be seriously messed up.

The season finale was fabulous! Katie was unexpected, that was what was so great about it, sometimes people, good or evil, come out of nowhere and suddenly play a crucial role in your life. It was disturbing, yes, but life can be that way. I liked seeing Naomi leave because that's what someone in that position would probably do, leave their friends and a shaky business for their ultimate dream. This episode was easier for me to relate to and become involved with.

I thought the episode was amazing. I was at the edge of my seat and didn't want to miss a minute of it.

The stuff with violet was bone chilling. Yes it was scary and disturbing but it also made for some great tv. I am so excited about finding out what happens.

I was screaming at my tv for cooper to go in and check on her. I was screaming at crazy lady to leave violet and her baby alone. I was screaming and cursing at charlotte for calling cooper when he was at the door. I thought it was just riveting.

The Addison/Noah stuff is great. I think its because they have this chemistry and they seem to be drawn to each other and I believe it. I just like the forbidden aspect of their relationship. I am so rooting for them.

Looking forward to the next season.

My gosh how simple are you? "Bone chilling" to describe a corny sceen where she is able to talk but cant move her body.
You were "screaming" throughout the show...sitting on the edge of your seat? Either this is a plant or you are really beyond simple.
And glad to see you are rooting for a man leaving his wife and new baby! Good idea! Great head on your shoulders!

Sorry, it "has" and "improbable." I should have edited my own copy better.
