Can Taj win Survivor?
Back in January, I read articles mentioning that a member of 90's pop group SWV was going to be on Survivor: Tocantins. Taj George, former pop star, author, and wife of famous NFL footballer Eddie George was cast without any bells or whistles. I was nervous seeing how ... well Olympian Crystal Cox did in Survivor: Gabon, but decided to give Taj a shot since she was involved in one of my favorite songs: "Weak." I was happy to see that she didn't degrade herself to Celebreality shows or I'm A Celebrity, Get me Out of Here! Fast forward several weeks, and Taj is part of the final six and still has a shot at winning the money.
At the moment, Taj's best bets of making it to the final four is to keep with her alliance of J.T., Stephen, and Erinn. If Taj was smart, after getting rid of Coach, she should form a women's alliance with Erinn and Debbie and get rid of J.T. and Stephen. I thought of a few other strategic moves that Taj should make to win Survivor: Tocantins.
Get rid of J.T. – It seems as though J.T.'s southern charm and honest demeanor could land him the win, and no one is doing anything about it. He hasn't been the strongest in immunity challenges, so the next time he's open, Taj should round up the girls and get rid of him.
Use the hidden immunity idol – To the other contestants, Taj doesn't seem to be playing the game. Instead, she is perceived as taking advantage of her Jalapao alliance and her friendliness with the Timbiras. Taj needs to make a power play to show that she deserves to win. Her best bet would be to use her hidden immunity idol and pry it out of Stephen's greedy hands.
Win a few immunity challenges – If Taj can win one immunity challenge, preferably the final immunity, she can at least prove that she's physically into the game. I understand that several of the immunity streak winners lost the game -- Kelly (Borneo), Colby (Australia), and Ozzy (Cook Islands) for example -- but being in the final two makes more money than getting cut at the final four.
Be convincing to the Jury – During her time both on SWV and touring her book, Taj has learned how to handle a loaded question, so anything spiteful can be answered in a calm fashion. Fortunately for her, she has a good relationship with Brendan and Sierra from her cross-alliance. If she can knock out J.T. and Stephen and make a final with Erinn, she has a great chance of getting four votes. Coach, Tyson, and Debbie will hopefully vote with their heads and not their grudges, and see that Taj played the game.
Figure out how to deal with Stephen – In Survivor: Panama, Cirie made a strong alliance with Aras and was cut at final four because she didn't know how to make fire. This season, there is a similar alliance between Taj and Stephen. It seems like the producers are setting up a final four ending of J.T. winning immunity, Erinn/Taj voting for Stephen, and Stephen/J.T. voting for Taj. Stephen has been set-up earlier in the season, showing that he knows how to make fire. If Taj was smart, she'd get rid of Stephen at final five to prevent a fire challenge even occurring. That or practice with some flint.
Taj has played a very strong social game. She is tight with J.T. and Stephen, but is seen comforting Coach during challenges that he loses. Her friendly and motherly demeanor has helped diffuse the fact that she's had the least amount of time to talk to her fellow survivors. If Taj makes it to the final, can people see past the fact that she has money and played the game hard? Do you think Taj even stands a chance? Leave your comments below.
