Sneak Peek: NBC's Trauma

by Bob Sassone, posted May 6th 2009 11:37AM
TraumaNBC unveiled its new shows Monday (they'll reveal the full schedule on May 19), and one of the shows is a medical show. Well, actually, two of the shows are medical shows (the other is Mercy), but here's the first one. It's called Trauma, and it's set in San Francisco. Remember those special episodes of ER that had a helicopter falling on someone or a plane blowing up or a car crashing into the emergency room? This show looks like it has that stuff in every episode! But it makes more sense because these people are paramedics and not ER personnel.

I am an EMT in San Francisco, and although we don't see helicopters crashing into things or trains derailing or even 20 car pileups daily, hopefully this portrays what us EMTs and Paramedics really go through. This job takes a special someone and maybe for once we will get the respect we deserve!

PD...Finest
EMS...FORGOTTEN

Willmore2000 I don't know if you were just being sarcastic but your comments aren't far from the truth. In fact some of the local DJs were joking about the street and freeway closures during the production. The production company didn't really need to stage anything. All they had to do was just camp out during any of our morning or evening commutes and they could have gotten all the action shots they needed for an entire season!

I hope it's a hit too if for no other reason than the city (any city) could really use the extra revenue.

Didn't NBC do this same thing a few years back as a spin-off of ER? I can't remember the name but it was about EMTs in Chicago.

Hey if it beings production money back to SF, I'm all for it...

I caught some of the pilot being filmed when they were out at Washington Square.

Of course it makes more sense than ER, after all, every single week there's a story out of San Francisco of a helicopter crash, a train derailment, huge 20 car pileups and giant fireball explosions.
