America's Next Top Model: Who will win?

by Michael Pascua, posted May 8th 2009 1:01PM
The final three of Cycle 12

It's finally that time when Tyra has three contestants left on America's Next Top Model. After weeding out the competition, we are left with Allison, Aminat, and Teyona. Like every finale, the girls will have to complete a Cover Girl commercial/photoshoot, and then the final two will have a runway walk-off.

Who has the upper hand? None of them. Each contestant is missing a piece of the model puzzle. None of the winners ever had every aspect down, bringing it all down to the decision of Tyra Banks. Let's take a look at some of the advantages, disadvantages, and outlying factors that will affect the girls in the final episode.

Allison Harvard
America's next top model contestant Allison Harvard
Advantages: Allison has been improving significantly as each week passes. She knows how to turn on the fierce in pictures. She has one of the strongest portfolios of the remaining girls.

Disadvantages: Her bashful personality and her weak walk didn't do well for her in the go-sees. If she makes the final walk, she probably won't do as well as Aminat or Teyona. The previews hinted of sexy outfits for the final walk, and Allison doesn't ooze sexy.

Outlying FactorPatterns – Some people think that since Cover Girl took over as the sponsor, there have been patterns that every three cycles the winners fall under three categories: white, black, and other. An example would be Eva (Cycle 3 – Black), Naima (Cycle 4 – Other), and Nicole (Cycle 5 – White). Since McKey won last season, the pattern would suggest that two white girls won't win back to back (Whitney is considered other because she was plus-sized).

Place: Second. This girl needs the exposure, but not the binding contracts that Tyra would have forced on the winner.

Aminat AyindeAmerica's Next Top Model contestant Aminat Ayinde

Advantages: This girl as an amazing body. She looks great walking down a runway. Aminat also has a personality which some may read as bitchy, but it's better than being quiet or meek, because it's memorable; Cover Girl likes personality.

Disadvantages: This girl can't push through a photo. She looks bored or like a deer caught in headlights in almost all of her photos. She improved in the last photoshoot, but is it too late?

Outlying Factor Judging Criteria – There have been girls that won because of their strong runway performances, while others won from a strong portfolio. If Tyra wants a girl with a lot of runway potential, she'd pick Aminat for the win. How Tyra's going to justify the weak portfolio is another story.

Place: First. I'm going out on a limb and saying Aminat wins. Call it gut instinct.

Teyona Anderson
America's Next Top Model contestant Teyona Anderson
Advantages: She's the overall package. She has a strong portfolio and an above average walk. Nigel loved her back in week two when he shot her because of how creative she was with posing and lighting.

Disadvantages: She's mentally checking out. Last week she started to cry, next week in the finale she cries. Tyra wants a girl who can handle the pressure, and if Teyona is unleashing the waterworks now, she's too unstable.

Outlying FactorRevisionist History – For some odd reason, Teyona started off as one of the strongest girls and has been called first several times. Suddenly Paulina didn't like her in the challenges, and she was only doing decently in her photoshoot. The editors may be trying to explain why Teyona loses.

Place: Third. If she does cry through her Cover Girl commercial and doesn't recover, she's going home.

In the end, I have the finale going as Aminat winning, Allison getting second, and Teyona third. What do you think? Post your comments below.

I was really surprised when Celia was sent home. She is the only one that could express herself appropriately using the English language. I have been very disappointed with Aminet, who is rude and crude. This makes her much less desirable as a representative of America. Alison or Teyona would be much better choices.

Like deebopalula, I wanted Fo to win. Fo's haircut was awesome! It was too bad she didn't realize how awesome she looked, and got really upset over her makeover. In my opinion, Tyra doesn't always get the makeovers right, but she had it right with Fo. Fo's photos weren't that bad either. She also had a sunny personality when she stood before the judges. But I must say that I was surprised of how poorly Fo handled Teyona not picking her when Teyona won a challenge. After Fo was eliminated, I didn't watch ANTM that much. At this point, I didn't care who won. Of the 12 cycles, I've only agreed with about 4 of the winners. They were: Eva, Danielle, Jaslene and Saleisha. I can't think of any others I was okay with winning. Although I didn't think Carrie should have won in her cycle, she was far better than the snobbish runner-up. By the way, Mercedes should have won her cycle, which I think was cycle 2.

I think that Aminat will not win because photographing is more than half and she does not have a good model portfolio and a strong walk and a great body just isn't good enough so I think she'd be the first to go. Teyona however has a great walk and great photoshoots but she cannot stand the preassure and so I have a feeling she will break down in the commercial and maybe even in the runway so I think she'd be the second to go. I hope Allison wins because she has a unique personality and a unique face. She has the best model portfolio and her walk can be improved. She I hope would win and if she doesn't she's so great that elite model management would sign with her anyway like they have in the past. :)

Allison SHOULD win, but she wont. She is the most unique, she listens to the judges, she has improved the most, while Aminat has not listened and hasnt improved and is frankly boring, they rave about her "bod" but her face is nothing special.

Teyona? will win, but doesnt deserve it.

For me it's going to come down to Teyona and Allison as the final two, with Teyona edging out Allison for the win based on a better final runway performance.
Aminat looks either ugly in pictures or just plain bored. She has an amazing body and a great runway walk but her face does not photograph well. She honestly should have been sent home weeks ago after being in the bottom so many times but Tyra is obviously showing preferentially treatment towards her for some reason. Her bad attitude and bitchy personality isn't helping her either.
At the end of the day I think a lot of it will come down to the Cover Girl commercial depending on how well they each do. Aminat's speech is going to be a hindrance as well as Allison's meek personality. Teyona definitely has the upper hand and it is her competition to lose at this point. Aminat may be a great runway model but lately it seems Tyra puts more importance on the Cover Girl sponsorship and being a good print model than runway.

The fact that Allison has a nickname like Creepy-Chan propels her to awesomeness.

And yet, she kinda looks sexy in her pictures; not like the girl from The Ring creepy.

I think Aminat looks a lot like Danielle or Dani from a couple of cycles past. Although she has a beautiful walk, I hope that ugly attitude of hers doesn't prevail.

I would like to see Teyona win. She has done consistently well all season. Allison has progressed but needs more confidence in herself before she is ready to be a top model.
