Castle: A Death in the Family (season finale) - open thread

It seems as if Castle just started and here we are at the season finale. It did just start, in a way, as it didn't have a full season worth of episodes. ABC hasn't made a decision on the show yet, but we'll find out on May 19 whether or not Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic will come back next season and do their banter.

The worst part of last night's episode? The preview at the end for next week's season premiere of The Bachelorette.

Castle is a great show. This episode even seem to pay omage to a cancelled show Eli Stone. The killer in this show takes the I.D Maggie Dowd. If you have seen Eli Stone you would know that two of the main characters one is Maggie Decker and another is Matt Dowd. Just thought I would throw that out there because I am still angry that they cancelled that show.

i just want to say that i´m portuguese and castle is in the finale episode of castle of season 1 and i want to know if there will be a 2 season? how many episodes?please aswer!

There will be a second season of Castle. The number of episodes is not set in stone yet but it should be between 18 and 22.

What a way to get Fillion into the serious limelight. Anyone who's seen him before knows he fantastic, but now he has even more exposure and in a good show that I am pretty sure is not a flash in the pan. Especially after the season finale arch of the mother's death good tie in to indicate they have plot to keep the show going.

I totally agree with "Freak Mojo". It is a wonderful, light, funny mystery and a joy to watch. There is enough mystery but not all the blood and gore that I love in CSI's so is just fun!!!! Please, Please bring it back. Love the mother and daughter as well and the whole group is great.

I am officially a fan of this series. It didn't start off all that great, but the writing improved and no one can deny Castle's two leads have great chemistry. Heck, this episode gets an A+ just for getting the very underused Robert Picardo to guest.

I hope ABC gives Castle another season, if for no other reason so I can find out about the murder of Beckett's mom.

This show is outstanding. It is one of the smartest, best written and performed dramas on TV. My wife and make a point of watching each Monday. We hope it comes back. The chemistry between the two leads reminds me of "Moonlighting" only with better stories and supporting cast. Bring Castle back!!
