Joss Stone agrees to return for The Tudors final season

The TudorsShe kind of had to, didn't she? It's great that Joss Stone is coming back for The Tudors' fourth season, but considering her character outlived Henry himself and remained associated with him, she kind of needed to, didn't she?

I guess they could have changed history some more and simply gotten rid of her, but I like that she's coming back. Stone has a sexy side that plays well in the world of The Tudors. And considering that she's playing the "homely" wife, that's a testament to her skills.

But then again, Jonathan Rhys Meyers has sexy-ed up Henry VIII quite a bit himself. I always pictured someone more like the late Dom DeLuise in the role. Regardless, The Tudors has been tremendously entertaining so far, if you can handle the changes. I'm glad that it'll be able to keep this important role intact through its final season.

Internal continuity is important in this kind of thing. We wouldn't want Jessica Simpson suddenly showing up next season. "Hey y'all, I'm Anne of Cleves ... or is it cleaves? Get it, 'cause my jugs are huge? ... Y'all got a car I can wash around here?"

Disappointingly short season (why only eight episodes?) and I'm also disappointed to hear that the series will not continue after Henry VIII. I'd hoped that they'd be continuing the stories of Edward, Mary and Elizabeth based on the series name "The Tudors" (vs something like "Henry.")

So much could still be done with the story, the drama certainly doesn't end after Henry.

"They weren't as sexy?" It's true that the children of Henry VIII weren't remembered as being particularly sexy, but let's face it, the real Henry VIII was (at least in most of the parts of his life portrayed in The Tudors) about as far from sexy as a guy can get ... if the show's creators can make Henry sexy, they can damned sure make Mary and Elizabeth sexy too ...

I think, starting with Mary, they'd have to rename the series the Stuarts, right?

I think they were referring to Mary Tudor aka "Bloody Mary" the eldest daughter of Henry VIII - so it would still be the Tudors. You're thinking of Mary Queen of Scots aka Mary Stuart.

Yeah I would love a season or two of each of Edward and Mary. Hirst has already done to films about Elizabeth so it would be redundant to continue with her. The other two siblings though have hardly gotten any TV or movie time so it would have been nice to see his take on them.

It's sad that next season is the last. We'll be through all the wives... if only they can continue the story with Queen Mary and Elizabeth... they weren't as sexy - but the drama was there! see: Jane Grey
