Death comes to town this Thursday on Smallville

Cassidy Freeman Tess SmallvilleWho will bite it during Thursday's Smallville season finale? I'm ready to place my bets. Two major deaths have been teased for weeks, but I don't think we're gonna see a Smallville vet leave the show just yet.

Judging by this interview with actress Cassidy Freeman and this one with executive producer Kelly Souders, I'm pretty sure Chloe, Clark and Lana are safe.

Souders told E! Online that Tom Welling's Clark and Erica Durance's Lois are both pretty much a lock to return for season nine. (And I think Allison Mack's Chloe will at least survive until the final season).

So who's dying? I'm pretty sure Tess Mercer is a gonner. Cassidy Freeman, who plays Tess, says she's contracted through season ten, but that doesn't mean Tess will survive after this year. The character knows too much, including Clark's secret, and will most likely be killed off after finding some sort of redemption in the finale. Plus, in an interview with Movieweb, she talked about joining the show this season and said, "It was awesome. It was so cool. I will cherish it. I hope to stay in contact with these people for a long time."

Those don't sound like the words of someone who'll be sticking around the show for much longer.

I think the second death will be Sam Witwer's Davis Bloome. I love Witwer, but his character has become extremely unlikable over the last few episodes. It seems like the writers don't really know what to do with him anymore, and I'm sure Clark or Chloe will end up killing him. In short, he's expendable, but his death will mean a lot of drama for Chloe and Clark. And it looks like the show is setting up Green Arrow to be Clark's potential nemesis for season nine, so that means Bloomesday must go.

Agree? Disagree? Are these picks too obvious? Still thinkin' one of the deaths will be a vet? Lets hear it.

Oh crap, I didn't even realize killing Lana was an option...DO IT! DO IT!

Or bring back Kara, and send Clark to the Phantom Zone for a few months - maybe when he comes back he won't be such a whiny little bitch. And I could handle half a season of Supergirl. It's sad that after all these years, Chloe is 100x more interesting a character than Clark. Props to Allison Mack.

I would hate to see Cassidy Freeman go because she has really brought a lot to the series this season. Great actress and those eyes! However, I can't see anyone else getting killed. Maybe Chloe, since she's was created for this series, but beyond that unless the writers really want to frak up the Superman canon who else could go?

I have to disagree with you about Sam Witwer. I have disliked his pouty performance from day one. I don't think the writers have run out ideas for his character, I just think they never knew what to do with Davis to begin with.
