D'Angelo takes on Subway

by Bob Sassone, posted May 16th 2009 10:23AM
The only part of the "Save Chuck" thing that I haven't been on board with is the fact that Subway is a part of it. Don't like Subway, with their microwaved meat and paltry toppings and lame service. I've always liked D'Angelo though, and in these ads they say why they're better (though they never utter Subway's name - trust me, they're talking about Subway).

I'd rather go to a Subway than any MacDonald's or Burger King that I can name. (I can tolerate Wendy's, and love A&W.) The service has been better than those chains and even getting away from the whole "Jared factor" thing, the food at Subway seems less likely to kill me.

You obviously haven't been to Subway in a long time, because they toast their sandwiches now (due to obvious Quiznos competition). The toasted sandwiches are great!

But their steak sandwiches, and cooked sandwiches suck, they may toast the bread, but they use a microwave to cook the meat. Whereas Every D'angelo has a plate grill. Trust me, up here in New England, Subway exists, but we outsell them. You don't have to settle for disgusting microwaved meat.

D'Angelo is only on the East coast, I believe. We have them all over NJ, RI, CT, MA and upstate NY. Their steak sandwiches are their best. Not a big Subway or Quiznos fan either, never understood how they've become the most popular sub franchises. For me, Blimpie and Jersey Mikes (another East coast only franchise) beats them all.

I can take or leave Subway, but these ads aren't funny/outrageous enough to overcome the fact they're from a regional franchise I've never heard of.

I have no idea what D'Angelo is, but I've never had an issue with any Subway I've been to whether in Canada, U.S.A, or Japan. They're consistently fast and consistently delicious.

I used to hate Subway until a friend dragged me to one recently. I was very happy with quality, service and selection.

C'mon, there are some really horrific food sources out there. I don't think you should be focusing your hate on Subway.

Those ads aren't funny at all.
