In Treatment: Oliver, Walter, and Gina: Week 7 (season finale) - open thread

In Treatment
Monday nights must be some Nirvana for In Treatment fans. Three episodes! I can only imagine if one of my favorite shows, say 30 Rock or Mad Men or Lost, were to have three brand new episodes every single week. I guess it might be a little too much for one night if the show was an hour long (even for Mad Men), but three new episodes of a half-hour show is like a perfect-sized mini-marathon every week.

Last night was the season finale(s). What did you think?

I am trying to understand why more therapists are not eager to comment on the series. I used to do similar work, and the agonies Dr. Weston goes through are deja vu all over again. Michael Balint told us that the pressures are enormous. I don't wonder that at times Dr. Weston says he hates to sit there and listen to other peoples' problems.

I am fascinated with this series from a clinical standpoint. Therapists all hope to be able to shape their interventions as nicely as Dr. Weston.

This was a great season. I particularly liked the sessions with Mia, Walter and Gina.

John Mahoney should get an Emmy or Golden Globe for his performances as 'Walter'. The scenes between Mahoney and Gabriel Byrne were some of the most riveting television I have seen in a long time. Dianne Wiest was terrific, as always.

Last year I thought the structure of In Treatment could never work. Who would tune in to watch every night? I do like that they have 2-3 session in one setting, but now I wish it would have been a longer season.

Any word on Season 3? I assume its up in the air.

Watched this season for first time. Program is riveting. Let's pray that there is another season. Maybe the best series on HBO ever.
