Merlin season two coming this fall, while season one hits the US in June

MerlinWhile the second season launch of Merlin is set to debut on BBC One this fall, in the UK, we're still waiting for the first season on NBC in the US. Finally, it's coming to NBC starting June 21 with a two-hour debut. Considering this went from a winter premiere in the states to a summer debut now doesn't make me feel NBC has a lot of faith in it.

Or maybe NBC is actually seeing Merlin as a quality scripted summer program and truly embracing a twelve-month programming schedule. The shorter thirteen-episode run fits better in the three-month season between seasons. So maybe that second season will make it to NBC in summer 2010? Or at least BBC America if NBC loses faith in it completely.

A lot of the criticism of the series has been on the lack of historical accuracy, or at least as accurate as you can get when you're dealing with legend. And yet I don't find myself too concerned about it. The lack of historical accuracy hasn't hurt the entertainment value of Showtime's The Tudors one iota. I've always been fascinated with myths, legends, and tales of yore, so I'm really looking forward to this one. And it has Anthony (Stewart) Head as the King, so Buffy's loyal base might even be intrigued, as well.

Quite frankly, I'm shocked the US was even willing to put a dramatic series set in medieval times on broadcast television at all. It's been a while since historical anything (beyond Life on Mars' psuedo-1973) has found a home there, much less historical fantasy. Hell, Legend of the Seeker had to go syndication to find success. Maybe if NBC doesn't pick up the second season, there's hope for it in syndication on BBC America. At least they didn't try and Americanize it.

I hope they bring the second season of Merlin back to the US and I hope it is soon. If we had to wait until next summer that would really suck! Sure it would be better than never viewing it at all, but who wants to wait a whole year to find out what happens next in a series that you can hardly wait to find out what happens next from week to week! I hope people from the UK put up the episodes of season 2 online, so that the anxious fans here in the US can enjoy them sooner than later, or sadly, possibly never! :(

I absolutely love the show Merlin, and if season two doesn't come to the US, I will be really irritated. It's so wonderful, the setting is beautiful and its got amazing actors. If a show can inspire someone to begin writing again, then its amazing. If season two doesn't come here, they should at bloody well least put it on iTunes!

I love the show and how do they know ARTHUR and MERLIN where not real and i believe this is the way it would have happened because arthur and merlin where more like brothers then like father and son type

With very, very few exceptions (such as "Lost"), the vast majority of the programming here in the US is either comprised of vapid 'reality' competitions, contemporary sitcoms, or contemporary cop/lawyer crime dramas. Compared to that fare, "Merlin" is like a breath of fresh air. I truly hope this cross-Atlantic venture pays off for NBC.

Honestly, I can't say this is the BEST show, but it is very good and very entertaining. I always felt like they should have picked someone a little less dorky to play Merlin and someone a little less preppy ivy-league looking to play Arthur, but they're young and it doesn't bother me.

This show is definitely worth watching, as is Legend of the Seeker if anyone here has not seen that. I cannot wait for the new seasons for both of them!

Does anyone know of a way my "Americanizing" self (I resent that cheap shot from the article) can watch season 2 from the UK BBC so I don't have to wait for NBC to get their heads out of their asses and see its a good show?
