New Smallville season nine poster is a Photoshop disaster

Smallville season nine poster

Kryptonsite has posted The CW's new promo poster for Smalville's upcoming ninth season ... and damn, it's ugly.

My graphic designer friends could do a better job of picking this thing apart, but even a Photoshop noob like me can tell it was a rush job. First, lets get the obvious out of the way - that definitely ain't Erica Durance's body. (According to Kryptonsite, that torso belongs to Kristin Kreuk!)

Then we have Tom Welling's head, which was seemingly beamed in from an entirely different season than his body. Or is it just growing out of his jacket collar? Chloe and Green Lantern Arrow look fine, but those shots were definitely pasted in from a previous season's promo shoot.

Here's the more interesting part of this poster: The small lettering at the bottom lists the cast, including Sam Witwer as Davis Bloom. According to this official poster, the once and former Doomsday will appear in season nine of Smallville.

This gives weight to a theory I've been cooking up ever since I saw that Witwer-shaped naked body land in Tess Mercer's yard at the end of season eight: Davis will return from the dead with Zod as his darker half.

It's not the most inspired way to bring Davis back, but I'm almost convinced it'll happen. Anyone got a different theory?

Check out a larger version of the poster here.

I think Oliver looks a lot like Ted from HIMYM

They're casting somebody new for Zod. At least, those are the rumors.

What a non-story. Yes, it's bad Photoshop, but that poster was just for the upfronts presentation.

They probably haven't even done the photography for next season yet. The real posters will be out in a couple of months.

You'd think they'd put a little pride into their work and make any poster they release to the public look like it was actually taken, not some Photoshop mash-up, even if that means using some publicity shot from the previous season.

The lighting doesn't even match up between the different actors...
