Craig Ferguson might host The Emmys

Craig FergusonAll the talk has been about Conan O'Brien taking over The Tonight Show and Jimmy Fallon taking over Late Night, but let's not forget Craig Ferguson over at CBS' Late Late Show. He might host the Emmys this year.

That's one of the changes being discussed by producer Dan Mischer. And let's be honest here: anything would be better than last year's horrifying hosting job done by the team of Ryan Seacrest, Jeff Probst, Tom Bergeron, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel. It was a train wreck from start to finish, with only one moment that was kinda funny (when they gave the award for Best Reality Host and dramatically went to a commercial before announcing the winner.

I like Ferguson (though I'm not a fan of his talk show) and he'd probably make for a good host. Of course, people like Stephen Colbert, David Letterman, and the casts of 30 Rock and The Office would be good too. CBS could go with someone from their network but they don't have to (and the network that hosts the award show usually doesn't).

Craig would be a great host for the Emmys. I'm a big fan of his show. It's my favourite late night show

Craig should definitely have a shot at it. He'd do better than most at it, and as you say, he certainly couldn't do any worse than the hosting fiasco last year.

If Craig couldn't do it due to being up for an award, Joel McHale would also be a good choice - he did pretty okay at E3 this year.

Why would Letterman ever host the Emmys?

Ferguson would be an excellant choice to host the Emmy's. Hopefully, he does it. CBS needs to advertise his talent. He should be up for an Emmy as well.

I think he'd be great, but would it mean he can't be up for one?

The guy deserves it, he overtook Fallon pretty quickly in the ratings. He'll probably fall behind again now that Conan is back and is the lead-in, but I expect him to be back on top soon.

On Tuesday he started his show with a karaoke rendition of Instanbul (Not Constantinople) that made me very happy. If he brought that type of thing to the Emmys I would approve. Though I still wouldn't watch.
